Chapter 39 - CAESAR

"What do you smell?" Ian asked, watching her closely. 

Glyn lifted her gaze. "Vampires."

His lips twitched into a smirk. He didn't affirm or deny her claim.

Because she was right. 

The man they were about to meet was indeed a vampire—the strongest of his own race. One who, oddly enough, had a fascination with the human world. 

 

Not that he didn't understand. It was fun over here. And humans? They were interesting creatures. Weak, yet nothing about them was boring or cowardly. 

The guard stopped, opened a white door, and gestured them in. 

Ian walked in with Glyn. The door shut behind them. 

"Ian." The voice that greeted them was soft, but with a deep edge. 

Glyn lifted her gaze to the desk in the office, where a figure sat facing the floor-length window, his frame directly facing the sunlight. 

She was confused. Whoever was in that seat smelled completely like a vampire. But Vampires couldn't stand in sunlight. How come—
