Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Welliston (final part)

I don't usually like to ask for anything like collections or power stones, since honestly, I don't know what they're for, but I admit it gives me pleasure when I see someone donate them. Just send them if you have extra stones; if not, it's fine. If I were to make money from it, maybe I'd ask more fervently, but let's continue.

Dante looked at Johnny, who was above him, standing on a large piece of iron. After all, Johnny can't levitate on his own. Before, he could do it with the accessories attached to his body, like his robe, but as the fight progressed, he lost it along the way. He could try it with his clothes, just as he managed to grab Dante, but there's a risk of it breaking and falling to the ground from a great height.

(Note: I don't remember any moments where Johnny levitates, but I think there's a part where he levitates on his own, so I'll rewrite that part tomorrow or the day after.)

Both were quite injured, Dante being the most injured, as he took more of the hit from Armament Haki himself. But Johnny was more tired than Dante. The overuse of his fruit had pushed him to the limit. Even though he was very good with it, he had only been with it for a short time, so the power's stamina and endurance had overtaxed him both physically and mentally. Otherwise, he might not have outlasted his opponent for so long.

Johnny, with his two swords, and Dante with nothing but his fists were about to deliver the final assault. Whoever fell in this fight would be the victor. Dante had no intention of killing Johnny; at no point did he want to. From his point of view, he was just someone who had gone astray and been corrupted. He didn't believe he was 100% evil, but he wasn't a good being either. He was just someone who deserved to be judged for his actions and then find salvation. But he wanted to kill him, so all he had to do was fight with all his might.

Dante jumped down. He knew he couldn't fight with his bare hands; he could be seriously hurt or even die, but Johnny wouldn't let him. With all the debris blocking Dante's path, he has to dodge the objects around him, causing Johnny to quickly reach his position.

With his eyes reddened, almost bloodshot, and his body at its limit, he uses his swords to slash Dante. Dante manages to dodge everything, and with a few cuts to his body, he manages to get out of the way.

A piece of the wall behind Dante pulls him forward, pushing him straight into one of the swords pointed at his neck. Dante manages to move, but the sword still cuts him, not fatally, but with a lot of blood coming out.

Dante was already against the wall, literally, with nothing to defend himself, and he could do little but hold on. He knew Johnny was on his last legs; he could see it both in his body and with his Observation Haki.

Johnny, a little more desperate, throws both swords, but Dante manages to see an opening, manages to pass between the two swords, and runs towards Johnny. He was at the edge of the place where they were floating, so he couldn't move, he could only protect himself from the blow, but he could hardly think much anymore, the devil fruit was consuming him mentally, and blood was already coming out of his nose, he could feel his brain bleeding.

A quick explanation of how Johnny's fruit works. Johnny creates invisible hands with his brain, which are almost imperceptible to a normal human. These hands are created through his body, the limit being what the user's brain can handle. With willpower and mental power, if you can say that, he could create infinite hands to move anything. This also has a range, with the center being the fruit's carrier, so it can't grab anything too far away. There are some details, such as the fact that these hands can pass through objects or that they can't grab and move the user, but that's the gist for now.

Johnny, with his mind already somewhat clouded, could only protect himself by using Haki on his abdomen, the spot where Dante's fist was aimed, but it wasn't enough. The blow was enough to draw blood from his mouth, completely redden his eyes, and deactivate the Devil Fruit.

The blow sent Johnny flying through the air. Dante had used the greatest amount of force he could muster, and debris and other objects fell back into the city.

The city had already been basically evacuated by almost everyone living there, with only a few exceptions, so this time no civilians were harmed by this debris.

Once everything floating had fallen, Dante emerged from his hiding place and began looking around, searching for his opponent until he found him. A few meters away, some debris moved, and Johnny emerged with one arm and head covered in Haki. But this time, he couldn't use his Devil Fruit anymore; his brain was barely capable of anything else. If he used it again, there was a chance he'd end up in a vegetative state, and he knew it. Now all that remained was a bare-knuckle fight, or so he thought.

Suddenly, a crow appeared near Dante, Nemesis on its paws. It released the crow high in the air, causing Dante to catch it and, in the process, break the rubble around them. Neither of them was going to retreat; it was impossible now; all they could do was continue and fight. Johnny, using his Armament Haki, and Dante, using Nemesis, would run toward each other to end this.

Johnny tried to hit different parts of his body, but couldn't. Dante, using his Haki, even though he couldn't see the future, could still sense where the crow was going to hit with his Perception of Intent, dodging all the blows.

The moment he saw an opening, he would hit him with Nemesis. Even though he managed to protect himself with Haki in time, he still managed to hurt him. And so they were until Dante managed to land a punch to his jaw, knocking him upward. Johnny, already tired and exhausted both physically and mentally, couldn't resist; he already knew he had lost.

Dante jumps to hit him with the cane and knock Johnny out, and before that all he can think is, "Sorry sister, I broke my promise" before going black. Dante with a blow to the head, manages to defeat Johnny leaving him K.O., only to approach, sit on him, and place Nemesis on his neck in case he wakes up and relax after all this.

Transition Moment*

Dante's POV

A few days have passed since the fall of both the Church and the Crown of the country of Wellsington. With the Pope's defeat, the institution was deposed and destroyed. Its members were tried and sentenced to death by the people themselves. Being the voice of the people, I couldn't resist much. I did manage to prevent Johnny from being killed, claiming that the Navy had taken him to Impel Down for his Devil Fruit.

There were some who were saved, among them Johnny's sister, Gaia Méndez. She thanked me for saving her little brother and told me about her childhood, having an alcoholic father who abused them both, along with a mother who was kidnapped by the Church at a very young age and sold to a nobleman, dying shortly after by the same man. Johnny wanted to enter and control the Church to prevent this from happening and, above all, to protect her, but something happened along the way, and it ended like this.

On the royal family's side, only Isis remained alive, being the only one in the royal line. However, she rejected it, not wanting to be in the place where her entire family died, ending the country's monarchy.

The country had no leader and was lost. As a good Samaritan, I lent a hand, establishing a government very similar to Athenian democracy. From there, I did nothing more; it was their job to continue progressing.

I called the navy again at the Sabaody barracks, asking them to send a ship to do something about this broken country and take Johnny away. While they were there, they wouldn't give him a ride there.

Right now, the four of us and Isis were helping with reconstruction and other things in the capital, such as looking for food, water, etc.

While I rested, I watched as Isis continued cleaning up the rubble, her hands already covered in blood, and she still couldn't stop. I saw it in her eyes. She was empty, purposeless, empty. Honestly, I felt sorry for her. My hero complex told me I had to do something, so I approached her.

Dante: "Isis, you have a moment." I was going to call her princess, but she doesn't even have a kingdom to hold that title anymore.

Isis: "So, what do you need?" she said without looking at me and without stopping working.

Dante: "I'd like to discuss something with you. Can you spare some time for that?" She stopped, looked at me, and nodded. We moved to a more secluded spot so we wouldn't be interrupted.

Dante: "Tell me. What are you going to do now?" I looked at her and she just shrugged her shoulders, feeling discouraged. I just sighed. "Hey, what do you think about coming with us?" She looked at me with a confused look. "Right now, you have nothing. No purpose, no goal, nothing. But that doesn't mean it'll always be like this." I stood in front of her and extended my hand. "I'm giving you the opportunity to find that in the sea. By the way, you'll help other people who are in the situation you were in, desperate, unable to do anything. But now it's different. You have the power to make a difference and make your family proud, wherever they are right now."

She looked at me briefly, tears streaming down her face. The loss was eating her up, but I'm giving her the opportunity to avoid falling into that hole of despair. So, after wiping the tears from her face, she takes my hand.

Isis: "I accept," she said with a small smile. She may have lost her family, but now she has friends who will fill that hole in her heart.

Shortly after, I met up with the others, introducing Isis and celebrating the newest and final member of the group, since I wasn't planning on letting anyone else join.

I already had the hero team. Arthur was the group's paladin, Trinity was the archer, Sullivan was the medic/priest (like in isekai with sacred magic and all that nonsense), and Isis, the newest addition and the group's mage. Not counting the most important member of the group, the hero, aka me, the most important, the linchpin and leader of the group. Did I mention the most important?

We were now complete; we didn't need anyone else.

Another important thing is that Morgan's pelican arrived, requesting information on the situation. I told him everything, from what happened when we arrived, the side quests, the Pope's story, his journalists, and the final battle. I also told him I was delayed with the book because of all this. I was planning on writing the King Arthur legends. At Arthur's request, I would write the Fate/series story for this one, since it was the most imaginative, and I wanted to see his expression when he found out his idol was a woman who cross-dressed and pretended to be a man.

Right now, we didn't have much to do. We were just waiting for the Navy to come for Johnny, along with the two guys who were fighting, Arthur and Trini. They were hard to defeat, but they did. Since they were unregistered, they couldn't be charged with anything and hanged. So, they'll be handed over to the Navy as potential pirates, and that's it.

*Two days later*

Once we woke up, everyone was told that the marines had arrived on the island. It was only a single warship. I was intrigued by who the marine who came looking for us could have been. We took the three prisoners. When Johnny left the prison with the sea stone handcuffs, he didn't say anything. He just walked while I dragged him, his eyes looking at the ground, with a sad and dejected expression. I hope the years of imprisonment will make him reflect. Given his fruit and the news he'll write in Big News, he'll most likely end up on Level 5 of Impel Down.

When we arrived at the city's port where the marines had parked, we stared at the ship. At least I stared at the ship, since I recognized it the first moment I saw it.

It was a large ship with a large dog's head on its forehead with a bone in its snout. Suddenly, a man flew out of the ship and landed in front of us. Now, what the hell is Vice Admiral Garp doing here?
