Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Back to Sabaody

And so the days passed. The remaining seven days on the naval warship passed without much pain or glory. Three of those days I spent in bed in the medical ward. In addition to my friends who visited me, so did Garp and Bogard. Bogard came mainly to see if I was okay, while Garp came to apologize for his actions and brought me food, which he ate most of.

While I was in bed, I took the opportunity to buy Devil Fruits, the tele tele no mi and the toumei toumei no mi.

(Note: Tomei comes from the word Toumeisei, which means transparency. I was going to use permeability, but it starts with touka-sei, which translates to night or something like that, which doesn't fit, so I changed it to save trouble.)

When I get to Sabaody, I'll give the fruit to Hun, to save myself the trouble of where I got it if I never had it all this time.

Once the three days were up, I was able to get out of bed, albeit covered in bandages, on both my arm and head. It's worth mentioning that it still hurt, but not as much as it did at the beginning.

And the rest of the days were mostly spent watching the others train, since I was resting.

Arthur, thanks to Bogard's advice and confrontations, was able to control his Armament Haki, moving to the basic stage. Like me, he only had the ability to harden his weapon.

Trini already had good sniper skills and terrifying skill in Observation Haki, so now it was time for her to develop Armament Haki. During these days, she's been fighting hand-to-hand and with a few different weapons, but she simply can't. She can fight, but it's not enough to defeat Arthur in a fight. She doesn't have to win, she just has to awaken her haki, that's all.

Sulli has returned to training; she feels she can't fall behind the others. During this time, I've been teaching her Tekkai. Although we can defend it, there will be cases where we can't, so I decided to teach her that technique. She's made very little progress, but she has advanced.

In Isis's case, I've let her play around and overexploit her Devil Fruit abilities. One of these abilities is flight. In a way, she can rise with the wind. A normal person would drown since they wouldn't be able to breathe, but since she's a wind, this doesn't affect her at all. Another important ability is an attack similar to wind blades. She can sharpen the wind to perform cutting attacks, and she can also control the damage from them. With this in mind, I've been asking her to attack both Trini and Sulli so they can advance more quickly.

Another thing worth mentioning is that they've been practicing attacks cooperatively, between two or three people. I'm missing some of that, but I'm recovering, so I'm resigned to just watching.

By the last day of the trip, I was able to move and do everything without pain, all thanks to the pills and Sulli. I'm sure I'll be 100 percent cured in five days.

During these days, I was able to participate in cooperative training. We didn't have much time for certain details, but we were ready for a collective attack. And the day arrived.

*Random transition appears*

Today we finally arrived at Sabaody, back to the place where I tried to escape from my family, only to have the trick backfire on me. The good thing is that I still have four years left before they come looking for me, so I can rest easy.

We said goodbye to Garp and Bogard, and we also thanked them for everything they did for us. They were going to Impel Down to imprison Johnny and his two henchmen, and then heading to Marineford, mostly to repair the ship.

Arthur: "What now?" he said.

The five of us stared at each other, not knowing what to do. It was as if we had gone blank.

Dante: "I think we should find a place to stay, and while we're at it," I snapped my fingers and extended my arm. Moments later, Hun appeared. "Hun, look for jewelry and lost money. You're only allowed to steal from pirates, and I'm careful who you steal from, too." She made noises of agreement. The others stared at me with strange faces; it was the first time I'd done this with Hun in front of someone else. "What?"

Isis: "No, nothing. It doesn't really matter."

Trini: "Let's find a place to rest."

After about two hours, we found a decent, cheap place where the five of us could stay. Sadly, it only had three rooms. One for Trini, one for Isis, and one for the rabble. Between the three of us, playing dominoes, we decided who would sleep in each bed. The first day would be Sulli, then me, and finally Arthur.

For the rest of the day, I told them they were free, since I had something to do, and she was already waiting for me. As I walked toward a specific hotel, Hun arrived with a few wads of bills and about three pieces of jewelry. I showed him where we were staying and told him to wait for me, as I was going to surprise him. Once inside the hotel, I met with the receptionist.

Receptionist: "Oh, but it's Maestro Dante, what the-" I didn't let him finish his sentence. Sadly, she's one of the people who's seen me in my suit and with my family.

Dante: "Shhhh," I covered his mouth with my finger. "I was never here, and if you mention that I was here or that I'm a celestial dragon to anyone, both you and the hotel will suffer serious consequences." I have to be firm with these people. I don't like to threaten, but it's necessary, otherwise they might open their mouths and say more than they should. "Now, which room is Topman in?"

Receptionist: "Room 12."

Dante: "Okay, tell the owner of this hotel what I said, and no one in this hotel will know my status, that's clear." She nodded. She led me to the room where Mercedes was. Once at the door, I knocked lightly, knock, "Mercedes, it's me, Dante."

???: "Yes, it's true," a voice came from the room.

I entered the room. Inside, there was a bed and very luxurious furniture. On the bed, there was a completely naked woman. The bed was covered in sweat and a little blood. Her breathing was very shallow and labored, as if she were short of breath. She also had many wounds on her body, and the marks of hands on her neck were visible, signs of strangulation.

On the other side, a man was sitting; he was wearing only his pants. He was about 6'3" tall, with short black hair and eyes of the same color.

Mercedes: "It's been so long, Dante. It's only been two years since we last saw each other, but it's incredible how much you've changed. You're bigger and more muscular." It's incredible that this evil guy is more of an older brother than my own older brother. "Or let me introduce you to my wife number—" he thought, "19?"

Dante: "Yeah, and does she have a name?"

Mercedes: "I have no idea."

Dante: "If you keep killing your wives, you'll never have children, or you simply shouldn't marry them."

Mercedes: "These women don't deserve to carry my child. They should be grateful that I take them into account and use them until their death." This was one of the things I never liked about him.

Dante: "It's possible that you'll leave her alone."

Mercedes: "None," I sighed. Sadly, I don't have the power or authority to prevent this. If I did, there would only be more problems, and what really worries me is what could happen to Trini and the others. In the end, I decided to sit down and start the important thing here. I just hope she doesn't suffer too much before she leaves.

Dante: "Okay, let's begin," I said as I placed a bag on the table in our center. Inside was the Devil Fruit. I wasn't going to make it appear out of thin air, so I brought it in a bag. "Here's the fruit I told you about. It serves as a replacement for the one you gave to Johnny, who's the father of the country you were going to."

Mercedes: "Was it like that?" This guy is just like Garp in some ways. He acts on impulse. Sometimes he doesn't even think, he just acts. To him, Johnny must have been a cockroach licking his shoes in a place no one knows about.

Dante: "In here is the Toumei Toumei Fruit. If you eat it, it will turn you into a transparent man. You can basically pass through almost anything. I don't know if you can pass through sea rock or seawater, but with the rest, you shouldn't have any problems," I said as I moved the fruit to his side.

He took the fruit out of the bag, examined it for a moment, looked at me, and ate it.

Mercedes: "It tastes like shit," he said as he threw the rest of the fruit. He stared at his arm and with all the strength he had, he slammed it against the table. Only instead of hitting it, it went straight through, only it also went through the chair and fell to the floor.

Dante: "Hehe." I couldn't help but laugh a little at his fall. Thank goodness he canceled the fruit's power, or else he would have fallen to the floor below.

Mercedes: "It's not funny," he said, a little irritated that I was making fun of him. "Well, it'll serve as a substitute, plus it gives me a certain invulnerability, so I'll accept it."

The good thing is that this "invulnerability" isn't perfect. He thinks I didn't see him lose his breath for a second. Most likely, air won't pass through him, so he won't be able to breathe at that moment. Let's stop rambling about the fruit, since it's possible I'll never have to face Mercedes.

Mercedes: "Well, about the other thing," right? I told her I owed her a favor. Silence fell in the room, only the half-dead woman's breathing in the bed could be heard. "I'll collect it later," she said cheerfully. "I know you'll have trouble with both the Navy and the World Government in the future, so wait for that moment to collect on that favor."

If she's going to collect it from me when it happens, it only means one thing. She wants me to kill some celestial dragon.

Dante: "Well, if that's all, I'm leaving," I said as I stood up to leave.

Mercedes: "Wait," she said as she pulled a piece of paper from a piece of furniture and handed it to me. "This is my den den mushi number. When you get your own, call me so I can get your number too."

Dante: "If I remember to give it to you," I said as I waved goodbye.

I left the hotel as calmly as possible, looking at the sky; there was still time before nightfall.

I decided to look for a newspaper to see what good pirates and supernovas might be here in Sabaody. The idea is to hunt them down to earn income, both in beris and achievement points. I haven't yet defeated a pirate with a bounty greater than or equal to 100,000,000 beris, but it shouldn't be difficult to do so.

Then I went to the place where we were staying to give the fruit to Hun and finish the book I was writing to send to Morgans. That also provides a little income.

I'd like to say that I now understand why the world travel types go to other worlds while the other is in the middle of development, and that it takes a long time.

I'm already 35 chapters in, and it's only been a year of story, and I'm planning on it getting to the main story.

So I decided I'd only travel to 5 worlds, 6 if I feel like it. Now I don't know if I should mention the worlds I plan to travel to; I've only mentioned one, which is the Fate/series world. But my idea is for this fic not to be a 1,000-chapter story, so I'm omitting certain details or skipping over some not-so-relevant things, so I don't have to be here all year. That would be a belated Happy Mother's Day.
