Aleluya, we're up to date with the other fic, which is the first one I wrote. This one is a translation, so I won't be able to upload two per week anymore, but sadly just one.
Another thing, in the other fic, there's a section where I have "character reference" images. If you don't want to see them there, you can go to my profile and see them through the comments I've made. They're photos I took with AI. That's it. Why don't I do it? Out of laziness, well, that's it. Keep reading.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been a week on the warship, and I still haven't been able to land three consecutive hits on Garp. I've been close to doing it, but as I suspected, the old man cheated. He started firing cannonballs, leaving and coming back for a while to say that the time it took didn't count. It's not like I managed to do them consecutively. It's just that I became very good, very good at dodging attacks.
I wasn't able to land the hits, but neither could Garp, I mean, very easily. Let's be honest, I'm not fighting with a 100 percent Garp; from his point of view, this is just training.
But that doesn't take away from the fact that at his level, which is maybe around 50 percent, maybe, I really have no idea, I don't know Garp's full power, so I couldn't say. But I can say that he doesn't underestimate me, but he doesn't use his full power. But with the arsenal, that's a different story. He was able to use his subordinates as a shield from one of my attacks, obviously he was going to use everything he had at hand just to avoid losing.
My Haki, both Armament and Observation, have made good progress. According to my system, Haki has four phases.
The first is the awakening stage, as it says, when the ability awakens. Here, Haki is uncontrollable; it can be used on certain occasions, but there is no willpower.
The second is the basic stage. Here, not only is Haki controllable, but one can also acquire one or two abilities from it. Armament Haki is an example. The basic abilities are Hardening and Imbue.
The intermediate stage follows; this is a transition. It is the step from basic to advanced. The user already has all the basic abilities and possibly already steps toward advanced abilities. Therefore, it is a completely intermediate stage, neither very low nor very high control.
Finally, there's the advanced stage. Here you already possess all the abilities, control, and full flow of Haki. Simply knowing one advanced Haki technique is enough to consider yourself an advanced Haki. But if you haven't yet mastered some basic Haki abilities, you're actually still in the intermediate stage.
Now, back to the most important part—me, and only me, wink wink. My Haki levels are as follows: My Observation Haki is intermediate. Although I possess the ability to see the future, I still don't control or possess other more basic abilities, such as the perception of emotions or power. Regarding what I said about Garp not using his full power, I was saying that because I was ignorant of the fact that the anime shows him almost destroying an island with a single fist. So, it's not power perception, but common sense. My Armament Haki is basic, as I only have hardening. And my Conqueror's Haki is awakened.
I don't think with the time left to reach Sabaody, I'll be able to develop imbue, which is the application of Armament Haki to objects—in this case, my sword—especially because my training/fighting/pure injustices are all bare-knuckle, without my sword.
Also, regarding the system's rewards, although it doesn't tell me what things or actions earn rewards, due to the previous Haki, I know I have to have all three at the same level or stage for it to give me the reward, so I need to upgrade Conqueror's Haki from awakened to basic for it to give me LP.
Although I can't control my Haki, I can still use it, in a certain way. Thanks to what I saw in the anime and my fight with Ares, with strong emotions and a fiery will, I can do it. Nowadays, it's easier said than done, but that's the idea.
Returning to the others, Trini currently only has one type of Haki, Observation, which, interestingly, is at an advanced stage, as she has all the abilities, albeit at the lowest possible level, but she has them; she just needs more training and experience. Arthur has awakened Armament Haki, as I learned he used it while training with Bogard, but he hasn't been able to regain it. Sulli and Isis have virtually none at the moment, but it makes sense. Isis just started training, while Sulli, first and foremost, shouldn't fight; she's a medic, not a fighter. I only train her so she can defend herself in an emergency.
For now, everything's fine. The only thing missing is for Trini to acquire Armament Haki, as the idea is for her to use the imbuement on the bullets she has. This way, she'll not only be more powerful, but she'll also be able to shoot Logia-types.
And obviously, there's me, who has to complete Garp's challenge so I don't get into the Navy. But I have an idea, a plan up my sleeve, one I can only use once, so I have to wait for the right moment.
The last thing I have to report is that both Garp and Bogard know about my status as a World Noble. They found out when they notified Kong of our whereabouts on the ship, and for obvious reasons, the Fleet Admiral knows about me, so he told Garp to be careful with me, as I could cause trouble. When they told Garp this, Bogard was by his side. After the call, they brought me to the office. After talking about how Celestial Dragons are trash, at least on Garp's and my part, it was decided not to let anyone know what was said in that conversation.
In the present, the four of us were playing cards. Trini, Arthur, Isis, and I were deciding who would clean the bathrooms tomorrow. We weren't free here, and Sulli didn't count since he helped out at the medical center.
Arthur: "Hey, Dante."
Dante: "Tell me?"
Arthur: "What are we going to do in Sabaody?" I thought for a moment.
Dante: "Money, we need money, that would be the main thing. I'm also thinking about going to the New World, but that will be soon after, since I'd like both you and Trini to be able to use Armament Haki, at the very least."
Isis: "I've heard the strongest pirates are there in the New World. Will we be okay?"
Dante: "As long as we don't mess with anyone dangerous, we should be fine." Spoilers, it won't be like that.
Dante: "I'd also like us to practice teamwork. We're not the most powerful people there, even here in Paradise. That's why we need to know how to fight cooperatively to defeat an enemy more powerful than us."
Trini: "And how are you going to do that if you keep getting beaten up by Garp?"
Dante: "I already have a way to beat him, and I'm going to do it tomorrow. That way, we'll have time to practice our teamwork. There will be five of us, since Sulli has good skills at crippling people with knives." I said triumphantly. "I won." It was a discard game. I was the first winner. "I'll go to my room. I promised Hun I'd play with her today."
I left, listening to the others cursing me for getting out of cleaning the bathrooms while they played along. In the end, I decided not to buy the Neko Neko Fruit, but rather a more useful one, Tele Tele No Mi, the Telepathy Fruit. That way, we can communicate 100% with her. I won't buy it until I reach Sabaody, since I want to collect as many LPs as possible, and I still have to buy the fruit for Mercedes.
(Note: Tele Tele comes from English, since in Japanese it's Terepashi, and the Telekinesis Fruit already has Tere Tere, and it can't be the same fruit. I have no idea if the Tele Tele Fruit exists; apparently they're invented. It comes from teleportation, and that fruit already exists, being the Wapu Wapu No Mi.)
*The next day*
It was already dawn. In the end, we decided. When I say decided, I mean that we would convince Garp by extortion that we should train in the morning so we'd have the afternoon/evening free. That gave me a bit of an advantage, since Garp will be sleepier and won't be as focused on me, at least not 100 percent.
Dante: "Good morning, Garp. I hope you treat me well."
Garp: "Yeah, brat, eat now-" I didn't manage to finish, as I went straight to fight him.
I have to be quick, find him unnoticed, and be fast, faster than I am. I started moving with pure Soru. My legs will hurt like lava has been poured on my bones afterward, but it will be worth it.
I went straight to Garp, and he punched me straight in the face, which I dodged. I grabbed Garp's arm. This counts as a hit; a hit is a hit; grabbing someone isn't a hit. Once I'm grabbed, I twist my body to kick him in the face.
He was able to block it with one hand, now with all the flexibility I could, I hit him as hard as I could with one hand on his torso and my other hand on his arm.
Now I need one more hit, and I'd be ready, but the problem is I wouldn't have time. Looking ahead, Garp would throw me with the foot he's holding, and I'd lose my chance, so I focused.
I searched for my emotions: my happiness at going out to fulfill my dreams, my fear at being caught by my family, my anger at seeing my friends being hurt—all the emotions I had. I took them, multiplied them within myself, and unleashed them on Garp.
Garp stopped his throw because he sensed my Conqueror's Haki, and with that, he stopped dead in his tracks. I didn't even think about it; I quickly punched him in the face, thus achieving the goal of landing three consecutive hits and avoiding the Marines.
Everything fell silent. Garp still had me by the leg. He lifted me up, and I was face down, staring at him.
Dante: "I did it. I did what you asked. Now you can't force me to go to the Navy anymore." I watched as Garp grew irritated.
Garp: "Well done, brat. I'll keep my end of the deal. I won't bother you anymore."
At that moment, I heard the system notification, but I couldn't see it, as Garp threw me with all his might toward the wall. I crashed through two walls and then fell into the sea. He did it out of pure blood, so I lost to him.
After I was rescued, I had to go to the infirmary to be treated. That move broke my skull, an arm, and some ribs. Ships aren't just any kind of material. If it weren't for the pills that made my muscles and bones like steel, I might be in critical condition right now. They told me I'd be in bed for three days.
I didn't mind being in bed these days. Two things are important: first, I wouldn't be going to the Navy, and second, I would upgrade my Conqueror's Haki from awakened to basic. With this, I would have my reward.
[Congratulations, you've developed all three types of Haki from awakened to basic. Your reward is 200,000,000 LP]
With this, I can easily buy both fruits. I also have my eye on a specific weapon, but I haven't wanted to buy it since I'm very attached to Sword Buster and I don't plan on changing it yet.
Now all I can do is rest and suffer the excruciating pain in my ribs, arm, and skull.
Dante: "Life is good."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know if I'm capturing Garp's personality, but one thing I do remember is that he's someone who does things without thinking and without strong consequences.
He throws Dante out when he realizes he lost to a kid at his own game and that he really wanted him to be the Marine.
