Demian's POV
I was shut out of words when those words left my lips, but it wasn't long before I heard the same leave her lips as well.
"MATE…" she whispered loud enough for the three of us to hear. My eyes widened, heart beating as fast as it could while her amber coloured eyes gazed into my blue ones.
"She's pretty…" I heard my Lycan whisper, and I tried to contain myself. I noticed how close she was to the little girl even when she hadn't really said anything about their relationship.
Her hands wrapped around the girl tightly, and she stared at me, watching any move I would make next despite the fact that I was standing by the door. My hands were stuffed into my pocket, and I leaned by the doorpost, staring at the lady in front of me.
I hadn't seen her standing, but her facial features were enough to make my heart race rapidly.
Her red hair matched perfectly with her eyes, and her figure? Even when she was sitting I was able to get a glimpse. She was an epitome of beauty.
"Fuck!" I scream inwardly, she was so fucking pretty, she was making me lose my mind. I knew she was so obviously scared, that was why I was trying my best to actually approach her slowly. I didn't want to scare her off or something.
"How are you feeling?" I gestured, touching the side of my neck, but she blinked as though she didn't understand what I asked her. When she didn't answer, I sighed. One of my men came to tell me she wouldn't say a word, so I came to check up on her.
By that time, I was already in front of her, but I felt she was intimidated by my height because she was on the ground, so I crouched to her level, resisting the urge to touch her cheek. I knew the place she was coming from, I didn't want her to get the wrong impression.
"Alright, let's do some reintroduction." He paused, and took in a deep breath. "I am Lycan Damien, I'm sure you might have heard about me. I am the alpha of Ravenclaw pack. How about you? Can you tell me about yourself?"
I waited with so much anticipation, but after a few seconds, my hope was crushed when she didn't say anything.
She blinked, and kept holding on to the young girl who was quiet as well.
"I understand all you've been through. I'm not here to hurt you. Can you understand me?"
She blinked again, but she wasn't saying anything, and when I tried to reach out to her, she actually pulled away alongside the young girl.
The moment I saw that, my eyes widened.
"It seemed like something happened back there," my wolf explained, and I sighed. Whatever it was, I knew it was already getting out of hand.
"We'll need to have the doctor check up on them," my wolf suggested again. Was it the fact that she was his mate, or the fact that he was being caring as always.
I sighed, and when she still didn't answer, I heaved. "I'm going to send the doctor to you, you don't have to worry, okay?" I explained, and was shocked to see that she still didn't answer. Not even a nod to acknowledge what had happened.
In order to not seem like I was pressuring her, I stood up, and walked away from there consumed by happiness, and a bit of hurt that she didn't want to talk to me in the first place.
All I wanted now was for those men to pay for harming those women and kids. I was going to make sure of that.
I walked back to my room, but the moment I sat on the bed, I heard a knock on the door. I groaned lightly, but was still able to let whoever it was in.
"Come in," I said, my eyes not leaving where I was staring.
"Good afternoon, Lycan Damien. I'm really sorry I've not gotten back to you. I just finished with the job now."
I nodded, "and the men?" I finally spared him a glance.
"Bounded in chains, and ready to be executed just as you ordered."
I nodded in satisfaction, but was silent, making George, my trusted beta, ask questions. His brows were furrowed, and his eyes gaze at me with concern. "What's the matter?"
I answered after a moment of silence "So many things actually…" I sighed. "I don't even know where to start from.
"You can start from wherever you want," I guess he was actually trying to assure me that I was fine.
There were no words. No one knew what to say. In fact, I was the most scared. I was confused, and didn't know how to express it.
"Well, I think I've found my successor."
His eyes widened, and creased lines appeared on his forehead. However, he allowed me to finish. "And it happens to be one of the girls who were victims in this whole thing." He was shocked, but didn't let it affect me.
"Wow, this changes everything," he expressed, and I nodded. It actually did change everything.
"Make sure the parent gets rest to come pick up their girls. We don't want them to think they are being kept hostages," I changed the topic, and he nodded.
"I'll do just that," he expressed with a bow, walking away.
Soon the pack house was flushed with parents of the girls, but my eyes were particularly fixed on my mate.
Many parents came to thank me, and I nodded, my eyes fixed on the girl, not wanting to lose my sight. However, a touching scene hit me. I saw her hugging the young girl she had been trying to protect for a long time.
"Bye sister…" the little waved, and I saw how the parent thanked my mate who just smiled. Soon, the parents slowly faded with their daughters, but my mate was left alone.
Her shoulders were lowered, and her lips erupted the words I least expected.
"My father didn't come for me."
