Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9

Evelyn POV

I sliced the steak, picked it up with the fork and shoved it into my mouth and chewed slowly and gracefully. I didn't dare look up in fear my eyes would meet one of the advisors and betas sitting on the dining table with me and Damien.

When Lucy came to announce dinner was ready she didn't tell me I had to eat with them so imagine my shock when I saw them all gathered around the table, eyes stealing glances at me.

I looked to Damien for an explanation but it turns out he also didn't know they were going to join us, so it was another ambush.

Although, Damien explained that these types of dinner is common and expected so I should get used to it and be comfortable eating in their presence.

It was definitely an ambush because not once did they hold this kind of dinner ever since I've been here.

I tried to be comfortable with them eating with me but it was difficult, I felt very self conscious and minded the way I ate in front of them. I can't continue to embarrass Damien and the faith he's put on me.

The dinner was awkward to say the least, although I tried not to look up much, I could feel the eyes boring holes into me. I could tell they wanted to say something to me but decided against it, I'm sure it's because of Damien.

After 30 minutes, I was done eating and excused myself and left the table, heading straight to my room so I don't encounter anyone else but unfortunately for me, a maid came up to me and informed me, Fji would like to speak with me about something.

Without another choice, I went to his private quarters. On getting there, I could tell he's no ordinary man. He has power with or without his title as an elder and I felt even more intimidated. All his servants had a different air to them.

"Good. You're here." He said as he walked into the waiting area, "Follow me." he beckoned to me, making me feel even more little.

I'm scared to offend him because he might be in great trouble if provoked and could cause a crisis for the pack and Damien. I have to tread carefully when it comes to this advisor, he seems to have it out for me and I can't fall for it.

If only I knew the purpose of this summon, I could prepare my words well so I don't provoke him.

Is he going to ask more questions about my background, politics and ranks again?

He took me to his parlor then sat opposite me. A maid came and served us tea before leaving. From the way she was acting, I could tell she was very scared being in the room although she tried not to show it and appeared professional.

Fji must be one of those who prefer fear rather than respect from others.

"You may have a drink," he said as he picked up his cup and drank it.

The scent from the tea was nice and it probably will calm me a bit because I can't help asking myself over and over again what is it that he wants to say to me this night in this so I picked up the teacup and drank it.

"I want you to leave this pack." he suddenly said, surprising me when I haven't even swallowed all the tea yet.

"Excuse me." I said whilst choking on my tea.

He's a very straightforward werewolf, no denying that.

"I'll give you a blank cheque, write the amount that satisfies you, take the money and leave the pack."

"I cannot do that." I quickly responded. Is this really how he sees me? I'm a she-wolf who's after money?

"I won't offer you this opportunity again. If you decide to become Luna, be sure that and the advisors will be against you and chaos will ensue. You will be bringing unrest to the pack, is that what a Luna should do?"

This is so insulting. Why did I even come here? I shouldn't have.

"Elder Fji, I know you don't like me much but to insult me this way is too much. I will not be taking your money and I won't be leaving the pack, I'll be taking my leave now."

I stood up and began walking out when his voice stopped me in my tracks. What else will he say now, the way he was looking at me condescendingly, makes me feel smaller and inferior to him.

"You will regret this decision, I'll make sure of it."

After that, I just left, I didn't want to hear any more from him. I went straight to my quarters without stopping by anywhere.

I went to bed early, but when I woke up, Fji threat was the first to pop up in my head. His threat was so real and I'm sure he can do it, as the future Luna, I should think of a way to prevent that from happening, no, I have to.

"My lady, it's time for breakfast, Alpha Damien is waiting for you in the dining room." Lucy informed me.

I quickly got ready and went to the dining room.

Alpha Damien was sitting there, going through some things on his phone. His food hasn't been served which means he's been waiting for me ever since I was getting ready.

Once he noticed me, his smile spread across his face and beckoned me to go closer.

I sighed but a small smile danced around my lips, I took a step but suddenly I felt an excruciating pain from my stomach. It was so painful that I couldn't even walk anymore.

"Evelyn!" I heard Damien call out to me but I couldn't look at him. My legs were suddenly shaking and a second later my legs gave up and I fell to the floor, hitting the tile floor.
