I slammed my keyboard so hard the cheap plastic cracked. Lines of red error messages flickered on my screen like demonic curses. My masterpiece—the fantasy sim-RPG I'd spent three years developing—had just crashed during the tutorial level. Again.
"Why do the goblins spawn inside the walls?!"
Sweat clung to my back like a second skin. I hadn't eaten in two days. My room smelled like instant noodles and regret. But I couldn't stop now. I was so close. Just one final patch before launch. One last push.

Before I could process that humiliation, a heavy door slammed open.
A towering demon with crimson armor and massive horns marched toward me, flanked by a dozen hell knights.
"There he is!" the demon barked. "Bring the Hero forth! The prophecy begins now!"
"Wait—Hero?! I think you've got the wrong goblin, buddy!"
But they didn't listen. They grabbed me and dragged me through flaming halls into a massive obsidian throne room.
Sitting on the throne was a beautiful woman with glowing red eyes and long violet hair that cascaded like a waterfall of moonlight. Her beauty was ethereal—curved in all the right places, lips like sin, aura like death.
She smiled at me.
I shivered.
"My darling," she purred, standing up. "You've finally awakened."
Darling?!
The crowd erupted into cheers.
"Behold! The Demon Lord's daughter has chosen her husband!"
What.
"Behold! The reincarnation of the Demon God has returned… inside the humble form of a goblin!"
What?!
Before I could scream, she stepped forward and… kissed me.
