The air was thick, laced with the mingling scents of brandy and red wine. A heavy silence enveloped the triangle of us, stretching on as if it would never end.
Until Cassian suddenly broke it, his voice slicing through the awkward stillness like a blade.
"How about a game of Truth or Dare?"
I refused bluntly, unwilling to tangle myself in more trouble. I was about to rise to my feet when Xavier reached out, gently holding me back, his expression alight with curiosity and interest.
"Truth or Dare? What's that?"
Cassian lit up like he'd just gotten the best gift of the evening. He eagerly explained the rules while sipping his brandy with all the smug patience in the world.
"So I get to ask anything… or dare you to do anything I want?" Xavier asked, more intrigued by the second.
"Exactly. Sounds fun, doesn't it?" Cassian said, eyes glinting as he leaned back.
Xavier gave a slight nod, almost imperceptible, but it sealed my fate.
