"What do you know about him?"
Whether Cassian was baiting me or not, I wasn't about to let the opportunity slip. If he dangled a thread, I'd follow it to the very end.
Of course, my intentions didn't escape his seasoned eyes. That cunning glint in his amber eyes said as much, even as he leaned in close to my ear, his breath a slow burn against my skin.
"Curious, are you? Then bribe me."
I placed a hand on his chest, not to shove him away, but to keep him from coming any closer.
"Bribe you? If you're selling something, shouldn't the buyer get a taste of the product first?"
Another laugh escaped his parched throat, this time more genuine, deeper. His lips brushed against the shell of my ear, brazen and amused.
"You're far more interesting than Davina ever was." He murmured, delighted when I instinctively recoiled. "And honestly… I like you better this way."
I pressed a little harder against his chest, a silent warning.
"No more deflections. Pitch your product, salesman."
