Chapter 3 - Arrival

Zhongshan has been hollowed out, and the expansive interior is filled with modern amenities that have left hundreds of evolutionaries in awe.

Hordes of Evolutionary soldiers walk by, standard steel sabers in their hands, and the mix of modern and ancient creates an eerie feel.

As the power of the Evolver grows, ordinary firearms are not as effective as cold weapons. In addition, many weapons storage facilities have been destroyed, and the fact that they can be armed with standard steel swords proves the strength of the execution camp.

Lu Yin and the others were guided to a large square, where the evolutionary soldiers stood in a circle, and many female soldiers were looking at them seriously.

Above the square, more than ten meters high, is a layer of transparent glass, and behind the glass is another vast space.

At this moment, near the glass, several men and a woman lowered their heads and smiled.

"I wonder if we can recruit some useful people this time. Even if they don't reach the level of humans, they shouldn't be too weak," a middle-aged man said in a hoarse voice.

"Don't get your hopes up. It's not easy to reach the level of a human being. Several captains have been assigned by the executing saints. None of us got it," replied a woman with charming manners unhappily.

"It's not impossible. It was not easy to protect tens of thousands of survivors all the way to Jinling. I cherish these people, so don't give them all to me," said a young man on the other side with a smile.

"Stop dreaming. Let's take a look at how Feng Hong arranged. This time, he is an instructor, and he will definitely get the lion's share," said the middle-aged man.

This group of people were all the Wanfu commanders of the execution camp. There are 80,000 registered evolutionaries in the camp, and only those who have reached the Earth level can become the commander of Wanfu. Reaching the rank of commander of Wanfu made them the local rulers of Jinling, second only to the execution of Shengzhou Mountain.

For the millions of survivors of Jinling, the execution of the Holy Ones is a rare sight, and the Wanfu Commanders are like gods.

"I heard that Lord Luo's Snow Maiden is coming to Jinling. She'll get a hedron from us. Who do you think will take on the challenge? The charming woman asked suddenly, smiling at the others.

Others remained silent and did not intend to respond.

The charming woman chuckled and said, "It is rumored that Lord Luo openly declared that the Snow Maiden was invincible at the ground level. Don't you want to see it with your own eyes?"

Still, the others didn't say anything.

The charming woman smiled faintly and said no more.

Bai Xue Luosheng stands on the snowy mountain, leading the blue camp. Although he is tied with the Execution Saint Zhou Mountain as one of the Seven Saints, his status is considered to be higher than that of Zhou Mountain.

In the eyes of outsiders, the Seven Sages of China are equal, but in fact, only a few people know that the Seven Sages are divided into the upper three saints and the lower four saints. Bai Xue Luosheng is one of the upper three saints, while Zhou Shan belongs to the lower four saints.

On the square, every evolutionist is examined. This is mainly due to the large number of mutations of the virus after the end of the world, especially the zombie virus, which is very difficult to treat. The execution camp must ensure that all evolutionists are not physically infected with the virus, otherwise it would be dangerous.

Soon, it was Lu Yin's turn.

Seeing the blood sample saved for him being set aside, the nurse began to fill in his personal information. A trace flashed in Lu Yin's eyes, his legs exerted force, and his figure was suddenly blurred. The next moment, he returned to normal. No one could see clearly, except for a slight change in the color of the blood in the sample. It seemed to have a hint of purple tinge, but it quickly returned to normal.

"Are you Lu Yin? Please wait a moment, it will be done soon," the young nurse said to Lu Yin with a smile.

Lu Yin nodded. "Thank you," he said, and walked over to the other side.

After some time, nearly 500 evolutionists were all tested without any problems.

Soon, a middle-aged man in a dark military uniform walked over. As he approached, an overwhelming pressure filled the air, and all the evolutionists looked at him in amazement.

Crackle, crackle.

The earth cracked, and a wave of energy swept in, shaking and shaking all evolutionists.

"Ground-level, prefecture-level master!" All the evolutionists looked at the middle-aged man with a mixture of fear and envy.

The middle-aged man walked to a place less than ten meters away from Lu Yin and the others, and then said loudly: "My name is Feng Hong, and I am General Wanfu of the execution camp. Now, I ask again - if any of you don't want to join the camp, you can leave.

Hundreds of evolutionists looked at each other, and soon, some began to move forward.

Although the Execution Camp is very powerful, it requires obedience and discipline. Many people have never been soldiers and are unwilling to join the military, which is understandable. Lu Yin is one of them.

Close to 200 people, nearly half, are unwilling to join the Execution Camp.

Feng Hong looked at the Evolutionists who refused to join and said calmly, "Joining the Execution Camp not only guarantees your safety, but you can also take your family to the Zhongshan area. Every month, you will receive energy crystals for cultivation, and even get combat skills personally taught by the Execution Saint."

"What are combat skills?" Someone asked curiously.

Feng Hong coldly replied, "Combat skills are abilities that allow you to release 200% of your strength. The Execution Saint's combat skill is the Storm Slash. There are very few things in this world that can withstand it. You should have seen it."

All the Evolutionists' eyes sparkled with excitement. Of course, they had seen it—one strike obliterated the mutated vines, split the earth, and changed the sky. How powerful it was!

"Can we learn the Storm Slash?" Someone asked eagerly.

Feng Hong replied coldly, "Anyone can learn it, as long as you have the Execution Saint's approval."

Upon hearing this, the Evolutionists who had originally planned to leave hesitated. One by one, they returned to their original groups. In the end, only about fifty people still intended to leave, and Lu Yin was among them.

Feng Hong waved his hand. "Take them away."

Soon, nearly fifty Evolutionists were escorted out of Zhongshan.

Lu Yin looked back. This place would soon become chaotic.

Outside Zhongshan, a group of survivors, including some Evolutionists, had gathered. As soon as Lu Yin and the others stepped out, they were surrounded.

"Brother, want to buy something? You can find me, I guarantee fair prices."

"Brother, need a guide? Don't look at me like that. There are too many zombies and monsters outside Jinling City. Without a guide, you could easily get surrounded."

"Brother, need weapons? Sharp battle knives, sturdy spears, we have everything. If you want guns, we have those too. Maybe you want to buy some bombs for self-defense?"

...

"Do you have a map?" Lu Yin asked.

A shrewd-eyed Evolutionist immediately approached. He first gave a fierce look around, scaring off others, then cautiously took out a map. "Brother, this map can be bought for ten energy crystals."

Lu Yin raised an eyebrow. "Ten? Are you crazy? A map costs ten energy crystals? Do you know that one energy crystal can help an ordinary person evolve?"

The shrewd-eyed Evolutionist whispered, "Brother, this isn't just any map. It marks the exact locations of powerful monsters and zombies outside Jinling City. You don't want to be surrounded as soon as you step out, right? This concerns your life. Isn't your life worth ten crystals?"

Lu Yin chuckled. "Three at most, no more."

The shrewd-eyed Evolutionist quickly agreed, "Alright, I'll treat you as a friend. Take the map."

Lu Yin felt tricked but didn't mind. He reached into his pocket and pulled out three small white crystals the size of grains of rice, handing them to the Evolutionist. The shrewd-eyed Evolutionist eagerly accepted them, his eyes gleaming with excitement. Then, he leaned in close to Lu Yin and whispered, "Brother, since you're so straightforward, I'll give you something. No need to thank me." He then handed Lu Yin a round pill and walked away.

Lu Yin looked at the pill with a strange expression. He recognized it—a potent aphrodisiac.

After the apocalypse, many plants mutated. The medicines from the peaceful era had long become obsolete, while those made from mutated plants were far more effective. Lu Yin had seen others use this aphrodisiac before, and it had powerful effects. However, such pills were highly valuable. If sold, they could easily fetch more than three crystals. Where did this guy get it from?

Lu Yin didn't think too much about it. He casually tossed the pill aside, looked around, and then headed toward the outer city.

Studying the map carefully, Lu Yin's eyes scanned the area, eventually landing on the desolate mountains in the south of the city. "I hope there's a clue there."

On the top floor of Zhongshan's inner space, a large conference room was filled with people. The seat at the very top was empty. The first seat on the lower left was occupied by a man with scars on his face, dressed in military uniform. The first seat on the lower right was occupied by a young, bespectacled woman. Most of the people here were the "Wanfu Zhang" (commanders of ten thousand) of the Execution Camp.

After a while, Zhou Shan entered the conference room and naturally took the seat at the very top. His gaze swept across everyone before landing on the young woman with glasses. "How's the plan going?"

The young woman raised her glasses and said, "Preliminary estimates suggest that expanding the Jinling settlement will take at least two months, with potential casualties ranging from two to three thousand people. If we want to include the entire Jinling area from before the apocalypse into the settlement, the losses could triple."

Zhou Shan furrowed his brows. "The settlement must be expanded. The northern route is progressing smoothly, and in a few months, we should be able to connect to the East. Once the whole country is connected, it will be much easier to reclaim our territory. We can't fall behind, and we certainly can't let others laugh at us."

"Execution Saint, we've just received news that the Wang Kingdom has produced a Sky-level expert, a monk known as 'Suffering Monk,'" the scar-faced man suddenly spoke.

Everyone gasped. Sky-level experts were rare throughout China, only seven in total, making their appearance extremely difficult. To everyone's surprise, the Wang Kingdom had produced one.

Zhou Shan's eyes narrowed. "Suffering Monk? Investigate his background. According to logic, no one should have broken through to Sky-level in the past year."

"Understood."

"Anything else?" Zhou Shan asked.

The scar-faced man raised his hand, and just as the Evolutionists were about to speak, their eyes suddenly glazed over, staring out the window. One by one, the others followed suit, staring outside in confusion.

Zhou Shan suddenly turned around, his gaze narrowing as he looked out the window.

Dozens of meteors streaked across the sky, trailing long flames as they tore through the atmosphere. One of the meteors flew towards Jinling, eventually crashing into the southern part of the Jinling settlement, causing a massive tremor.

At that moment, countless survivors and Evolutionists witnessed the scene. The meteors in the sky were as beautiful as fireworks, but fleeting.

Outside Jinling, as Lu Yin walked toward the southern wilderness with the map, he too saw the meteor. At that moment, the meteor, falling outside Jinling, was not far from him.

A violent shockwave swept across the sky, dispersing the clouds, and the earth cracked inch by inch.

Lu Yin kicked open the steel frame coming toward him, focused his gaze on the southern direction, and after a moment of contemplation, quickly rushed forward.

Inside Jinling, Zhou Shan soared into the sky, preparing to head south, only to be stopped. "Punishment Saint, countless zombies are attacking the city walls."

Zhou Shan turned his gaze to the east, where a large group of zombies was approaching, darkening the horizon. Jinling City had already been sealed off, and many survivors were still trapped outside, screaming in despair.

Holding a giant mountain-cleaving axe, Zhou Shan flew toward the city outskirts. He swung the axe towards the ground, cutting down countless zombies. "Open the gates, let them in. I'll protect them."

To the south of Jinling, at the site of the meteor crash, dust and smoke billowed into the sky. A massive volcanic crater, over a thousand meters in radius, formed a conical shape. At the bottom, there was a white sphere with a two-meter diameter, emitting white smoke. The surrounding air twisted and warped.

Lu Yin approached the crater, hiding in an abandoned factory not far from it. He peered through a piece of wood at the white sphere, his expression changing slightly. Although he had suspected what it was, seeing it in reality still caught him off guard. "I didn't expect it to come so soon... a spaceship."

With a faint sound, the door of the white spaceship opened, and a hand reached out. After a brief pause, a young man walked out of the spaceship. He had short hair, wearing white light armor and combat boots. He slowly walked out of the spaceship, looked up at the sky, and lazily stretched. "Really tired... Trials are trials, but they chose such a distant place, making us fly here ourselves. How disgusting."

With that, the young man took out a short knife from the spaceship and pulled out something like a watch, strapping it to his left wrist. He tapped it, and a series of beeping sounds rang out. His sharp gaze turned toward Lu Yin's direction. "Who's there?" he said, then jumped into the air, drawing his short knife and slashing horizontally. The massive strike cut the factory in half.
