Let's Be Honest, Some People Are Ugly
And no, I'm not talking about their faces. Some people are just plain ugly—inside.
Their character is ugly.
Like, why does someone sit down and decide to be a total jerk?
I'm not even mad today, but I thought about it.
You're smart.
You're pretty.
You've got everything going for you.
So, are you just bored? Sitting there like, Hmm... how can I ruin someone's day today?
By the way, this isn't about anyone in particular.
Plot twist: I'm actually the jerk.
And you know what? That's okay.
It's okay to be yourself.
You don't have to please everyone.
This might hurt a lot of people pleasers' feelings, but here's the truth: No one actually likes a people pleaser.
You're just a doormat.
I know because I've been there. I used to be a people pleaser.
"I wanted everyone to like me."
When I first started high school, I wanted to be popular.
It was a boarding school, so I'd wake up as early as 5 a.m. just to fetch hot water for all the seniors. I thought that would make them like me.
I'd iron their uniforms, give away my snacks, do everything just to be liked.
And you know what? It didn't change a thing.
I was still treated the same way. Like I wasn't enough.
Until one day, I realized—I didn't need anyone to like me.
And well...a narcissist was born.
Now? I don't care. I'd rather be called a jerk than ever go back to being a doormat.
So, if you're a people pleaser and you enjoy being walked all over? That's fine. Be my guest.
Ladies and gentlemen: the perfect doormat.
Or, you could try something different.
Accept yourself. Say, "Yeah, I don't care if nobody likes me."
Sure, it's depressing sometimes. Look at me—I'm writing the most depressing, most embarrassing book ever.
But at least now, no one can boss me around. No one can come at me with their crap because I won't take it.
And you know what? That feels good.
It feels really good to stop being a pushover.
