Chapter 14 - [Common Requests]

"If you are interested in it, come to the prayer room before midnight. You have a day to think about it."(Alicia)

Saintess Alicia spoke before standing up from there and leaving with her Guardian. Perhaps she was trying to get my attention with that demon hunting job and once she saw my expression, she understood my intention.

[What do you think? I believe it would be a good chance to earn Exp and level up.](Elios)

'Seems so. Though I am more intrigued by why is she calling me during the night than to explain things here.'(Noah)

[Could be that she wants us to think about it properly? It's a dangerous decision after all.](Elios)

'Or maybe it would be easier to explain about the Job at night than right now? Doesn't really matter, I guess. We were going to be busy earning Karma today anyway.'(Noah)

[True, I suppose](Elios)

After that, Noah nodded before bowing politely to the head priest. The head priest simply sighed before speaking,

"I don't even know anymore what the Goddess is planning. First that Saintess and now you… I am too old for all these experiences."

Noah observed him for a few seconds as he simply shook his head before looking at Noah again and spoke,

"May the blessing of the Goddess stay with you, young one. Try to live your life in a way that would bring peace to others."

Noah paused for a bit before nodding and then walking away from there. He pondered about the head priest's words for a few moments but then gave up after he began focusing on more important things for now.

[Take a left from here, and then another right after that. The second door on the left would be the area where you will be able to take common requests](Elios)

Following that path, Noah reached a place filled with thousands of letters. His eyes traced through them, until they landed on the woman sitting on the other side of the far table. Brownish-orange hair that reaching below her shoulders, she sat there with a tired expression.

Still, she corrected her square glasses before focusing her eyes on the paperwork in front of her.

"Ummm… Excuse me… miss Yuna?"(Noah)

Noah looked at the nameplate she was wearing, and caught her attention before he continued.

"Can you give me a dozen common rank requests in a single focused area?"(Noah)

Just like before, Noah followed the appropriate words that Elios asked him to convey. And thanks to that, she understood what he was asking before she looked at one of the shelves on the right.

"Give me your badge. And take as many as you want from that pile on the third shelf from the corner right."(Yuna)

Picking up 20 requests from there, Noah brought it all to Yuna's table, surprising her a bit.

"Did you commit a major sin or something? Trying to brush it off with all the good deeds?"(Yuna)

Yuna became a bit curious about Noah, but Noah simply smiled before speaking," nothing like that. Just… someone I know is sick. Hoping to earn enough good deeds to pray for her."

A plain simple lie.

"OwO"(Yuna)

Yuna simply observed Noah with a surprised expression, before a bright smile appeared on her face. And then writing all the documents in regards with the request, she returned him the badge.

"Take this. May the Goddess watches over you."(Yuna)

"Thank you."(Noah)

Moving away from there, Noah looked at the first of the quests that were present there. These quests were of common rank and since they were sent to the temple for charity purposes, they didn't have any rewards attached to them. But honestly it wasn't much of a problem for Noah whose main objective was to earn Karma today and check the function of the System along with it.

"The first quest is to heal the back pain of an old woman from the east wing of the city. North of the Surburna Market," Noah put his hands on his cheek before putting 3 quarters of the requests into his small pocket inside the robe.

Checking the contents of the other 4, he found them to be similar to them with some requests regarding healing the elders, and others their pets. Though there was one odd one among the 5, and that was to help with fixing the broken door outside the shop.

[Shouldn't this one go to the builders or architects? Why send it to a temple?](Elios)

And the answer to that came when Noah reached the place.

[The heck is this?](Elios)

"Doesn't seem like a common request to me."(Noah)

When Noah reached that place, he understood another aspect of his power that was not mentioned in the system. And that was the fact that he can see traces of the Dark Mana in the air along with the Light ones.

And in front him was a half broken house with plenty of dark mana lingering in the air. It was easy to guess that something was in there, either a monster or a dark mage.

"Are you a priest?"

Noah was still analyzing the situation when a young girl approached him from behind. A brown haired child barely 10 years old, wearing ragged clothes. Her eyes were pale blue with barely any hope in them, but still she mustered up some courage to ask the priest looking for some help.

A smile formed on Noah's face as he didn't want to scare her, and then getting at the same eye level as her, he answered," yes. I am."

"Can you… save my brother?" She was barely able to hold her tears and Noah's heart started aching. Looking at that expression, he still kept himself calm and continued,

"Yes. I will. First calm down, okay? Can you tell me your name?"

"Nina."(Nina)

"Were you the one who sent the request to the temple?"(Noah)

"Yes. Brother wrote the request and asked me to sent if anything happens to him."(Nina)

"All right, Nina. Can you tell me what happened to your brother?"(Noah)

"Monsters took him."(Nina)

At this point Nina had a few tears in her eyes which Noah wiped using his handkerchief. And then he continued asking,

"Can you tell me where the monsters took him?"

Nina nodded as she barely held her tears and then pointed at the same place where the dark mana was coming from. Noah sighed before speaking,

"All right, Nina. I will now go inside and bring your brother back. But you must listen to me. There is a small park nearby with a goddess statue. I want you to go there and stay. No matter what happens, don't move from there, okay?"

Nina looked at Noah with a worried expression, but still nodded with slight relief. She then slowly moved away from there, looking back once every three steps before moving forward, until she finally disappeared from his sight.

The smiling expression of Noah changed to a serious and cold one as he looked at that house again.

[All right. Let's do this.](Elios)

Noah nodded before he entered into the house bracing himself for anything out of the ordinary.
