Chapter 13 - [Dual Nature!]

"Let me be direct, Elios. Can you use Dark Magic?"(Alicia)

"I-"(Noah)

[Don't lie. She can see if you can lie or not. Those eyes have been blessed by the Goddess, allowing her to see through all lies, though she can't use it all the time as far as I know.](Elios)

'Shouldn't you have told me such important information first? What should I do now?'(Noah)

Hearing that question from Alicia, Noah was now put in quite a precarious situation. On one side, he can't tell them about the Dark magic, on the other hand he can't lie either. He needed to think fast or else he might really die on the first… second day he was summoned to this world.

'Can I fight?' He questioned as he looked at Lucas before recalling yesterday's scene and then giving up on that. If anything he could try to run away from here?

"Don't worry, we are not going to harm you if you do so. I vow this in the name of my Goddess, Alepsia that nobody would harm you just because you can do dark magic. And even if someone tries to do, both I and Lucas will protect you."(Alicia)

Saintess Alicia made a serious vow there. Her smile was still present on her face, but now her expression was rather difficult to read. Noah and Elios had no idea what she was thinking but it seemed things were in their favour right now.

'Can I trust that vow?'(Noah)

[Yeah. If she breaks such a vow, she will lose all her authority as a Saintess. It's pretty serious stuff.](Elios)

"Can you answer my question now?"(Alicia)

Noah gave it a brief thought before he nodded and then put both his hands forward. On one hand there was light, and on another there was darkness.

"What…?!!"(Alicia)

"?!!"(Lucas)

"What in the name of holy Goddess Alepsia?!"(Head Priest)

All three were shocked as they saw Noah controlling two different elements in each hand, which made Noah wonder if all those vows were facade and they were just tricking him. But the threat that he anticipated never came as the three just kept observing Noah's hand with the same shocked face as before.

'Elios?'(Noah)

[Hmmm. It could be because of the dual nature? I think it's that.](Elios)

'Explain.'(Noah)

[I can use light magic, and my guess is that you have dark affinity. Hence, we can use both of them. But to ordinary people it will look as if a single person is using two types of magic at once. It's extremely rare so it's almost an anomaly, even impossible according to many scholars.](Elios)

'And you are telling me such an important piece, now?'(Noah)

[Oops!](Elios)

"Since when can you use both types of magic?"(Alicia)

Noah looked at the serious gaze of Alicia and answered honestly. Even though it won't be the complete truth, it should be fine as long as he doesn't utter any lies.

"Before the incident, I wasn't able to use any magic at all. But after that, it's as if something within me changed, allowing me to use Light Magic and Dark Magic both."(Noah)

"Is that so? Can you tell me what you think about Dark Magic, Elios?"(Alicia)

"A means to an end. It's simply a tool which can be used to do both good and bad."(Noah)

Hearing that answer, Alicia smiles as she looked at me with some sort of expectations. Her eyes analyzed me for a few more seconds before she asked again,

"Can you tell me details of what happened yesterday?"

Noah nodded before beginning to explain everything that he saw through. Even though it was a tad bit difficult, with the brains of Elios and his own expertise in lying, he was able to tell everything about the incident while also hiding about his personal powers.

The head priest noted all of Noah's words, letter by letter, before the entire conversation reached an end. And looking at the bright face of Alicia, it seemed she was really happy with the way Noah explained everything.

"Noah. While we may have found out about your affinity, it would be better to keep it a secret from your fellow classmates and teachers. Try to not use Dark Magic at all."(Alicia)

The same advice as Elios.

"But… If you really want to hone your Dark Magic, there is a way we can do that, too."(Alicia)

But there was something extra to it this time.

"…" (Noah)

[…](Elios)

"I have read your files and honestly it's sad to let go of such an honest and dutiful acolyte. Especially considering your special attribute. So, I was wondering if you would like to apply for a side-job of sorts?"(Alicia)

An offer.

"Side-Job?"(Noah)

"Yeah. One that requires hunting demons and dark mages lurking within the city."(Alicia)
