# Chapter 48: Has Your Millennium Eye Been to College?
"Now, we will present the commemorative trophy and the tournament's prize money to the winning Weevil." On the television, the Duel Platform of Rex, the duel's loser, was retracted to the Backstage, while Weevil's Duel Platform was lowered to the Ground. The Host announced into the microphone, "The presenter is the Industrial Illusions President, and also the Genius Game Designer who created 'Duel Monsters'—"
"Pegasus J. Crawford!"
The Ground mechanism in front of Weevil's Duel Platform opened, and a man wearing a red gentleman's suit, dressed very formally, appeared on the Stage standing on an elevator. In his hands, he held a golden trophy. His long silver hair hung down to his chest, covering his left eye, leaving only half of his face visible.
Walking slowly towards Weevil, the tall Pegasus slightly bent down and elegantly handed the trophy in his hand to the short Weevil: "Congratulations."
"Th-Thank you!" With a mysterious blush on his face, Weevil took the trophy from Pegasus's hand. Although his personality was terrible, he still felt great admiration for an Important Figure like Pegasus, who designed Duel Monsters.
"The prize money will be delivered to you shortly. Additionally, you are unconditionally eligible to participate in a special event that our company will be hosting soon."
Pegasus watched Weevil lower his head shyly. A hint of golden light flashed between his silver hairs, and a mysterious smile appeared at the corner of his mouth. It was unclear what he was thinking.
Meanwhile, in front of the television, everyone's attention had shifted away from the concluded Duel Monsters tournament and back to the cardboard box that Yugi had set aside earlier.
"As expected, this package is still quite intriguing," Joey Wheeler said, holding the cardboard box and looking at it from all sides, as if trying to discern something special from it. "If I don't find out what's inside, I probably won't be able to sleep tonight."
"Then let's open it and see."
Yugi took the box from Joey Wheeler 's hands, picked up a utility knife, and cut open the seal on top of the box, revealing the contents inside. In this box of unknown origin, the bottom layer was padded with thick cushioning to protect the items inside. Several items were placed in the center:
Two star-shaped accessories were placed in a sealed Card Box. Their material was thick metal;
A fingerless glove to be worn on the right hand. The wrist area of the glove also had several star-shaped slots, which seemed like they were meant to be used together with the two stars mentioned earlier;
A videotape was beside them. There were no labels indicating its contents, but it seemed like the videotape's duration was not short.
"What are all these items?" Yugi picked up a glove and put it on his right hand. The size fit his palm perfectly, a complete coincidence, as if it were custom-made. The material was also very breathable and didn't cause sweating easily, and the seemingly heavy wrist ring didn't seem to interfere much with arm use.
Joey Wheeler took out the two stars from the box: "They feel heavy. They look like metal. Could these be metal?"
"What do you guys think, could this be an instructional videotape?" Téa said, picking up the videotape and shaking it.
As the group gathered around the box, Tristan noticed that after glancing at the items inside the box, Hayato went to search through his shoulder bag. Just as Tristan turned his head, Hayato happened to pull out a few items from his shoulder bag.
"Ahem, about that, I know the answer." Hayato coughed to attract their attention, then held up the two items in his hand and shook them. "Because I received these two things as well."
"Huh? Aren't those...?" Joey Wheeler looked at the glove and metal stars in Hayato's hand, then lowered his head to look at the two stars he was holding.
"I don't know if you guys noticed something. The match we just watched was the 'National Selection Tournament' hosted by Industrial Illusions. What were they selecting?"
"The answer is, Industrial Illusions is about to host a massive event. This event will no longer be limited to regions and countries, but will encompass the entire World. Duelists selected from all over the World will gather together and, through duels, select the Strongest Duelist, granting them the title of 'Duel King'."
"'Duel King', huh..." Just listening to Hayato's explanation made Joey Wheeler 's blood boil. "Alright! Yours Truly is definitely going to participate in that match!"
But Tristan patted Joey Wheeler 's shoulder: "Idiot Joey Wheeler , haven't you figured out what Hayato means yet?"
"Huh?"
"I get it," Yugi said, seeming like he understood Hayato's meaning. "The qualifiers Industrial Illusions held before were selecting the participants who had the qualification to enter the match that would decide the 'Duel King', right? At the same time, players who didn't participate in the qualifiers but had good strength would also receive an invitation. So, these gloves and stars are probably the proof of being invited, right?"
"Huh?! You mean Hayato and Yugi were both invited?!" Joey Wheeler was a bit dumbfounded. "Why?! Why wasn't I, such a strong Duelist, invited? That Pegasus is truly blind!"
Good rant, and he's even a prophecy master. Doesn't Pegasus's left eye literally have "eyes" but no sight?
"You really dare to say that, Joey Wheeler ," Tristan retorted. "You're just Top 8 in Domino City, and that was when neither Yugi nor Hayato participated. It would be beyond my expectations if you were invited."
"Yugi's fame is built upon 'Defeating Kaiba Seto, who possessed three Blue-Eyes White Dragons'. Pegasus inviting Yugi is expected. As for me, it wasn't because of my dueling prowess, but rather a fortuitous circumstance where I met Pegasus and discussed the future development of Duel Monsters a few times, so he also invited me to experience it."
Hayato explained the reason he was invited. He paused, looking at the videotape in Téa 's hand with a slight hesitation, but in the end, he still said, "However, the items I received only included these two. That videotape wasn't among them."
"Perhaps this videotape was recorded by the person who invited Yugi to participate in that match, and they wanted Yugi to watch it? Should we step back for a bit?"
Hayato truly wanted to change Ji-chan's destiny of being sealed because Yugi lost the match. But he knew very well that this was the World of Yu-Gi-Oh!, a World where "destiny" truly existed. Pegasus, in order to force Yugi to participate in the Duelist Kingdom and achieve his goal of taking over KaibaCorp, would inevitably resort to any means.
Even if he told Yugi, "The videotape isn't important, just throw it away," it would likely be difficult to change fate. At that time, Pegasus might even physically kidnap someone close to Yugi, just like he did when dealing with Kaiba.
In the end, all Hayato could do was take the others further away from the television, which would soon become the medium for the duel, and then use "that thing" he had been preparing for nearly a month to try and block Pegasus's dark power.
He subconsciously touched his pocket, feeling the cards he had taken out beforehand. Hayato prayed in his inner thoughts: 'Train soldiers for a thousand days to use them for an hour. You guys really need to step up this time.'
"Since Big Brother said so~"
"We'll definitely be fine!"
"Probably, right?"
"Kuriboh~"
