# Chapter 47: Rule Adjustments
Over the past month, it wasn't just Joey Wheeler who changed; both Yugi's and Hayato's Decks underwent significant changes. The reason for this was that Industrial Illusions recently released many new Card Packs and added a completely new Card Type to them - Trap Cards.
At the same time, Pegasus also issued a Card Adjustment notice, adjusting cards like [Savior's Antlion Pit] into Trap Cards. Duelists could buy Card Packs themselves to get them, or go to Game Shops selling Cards in various places to exchange their cards for the new versions.
It wasn't that no one chose not to exchange them; it's just that Pegasus came up with a "very cool" Idea to deal with this situation. He collaborated with some companies, installing Duel Platforms equipped with Virtual Projection Technology in stadiums across major cities. Only Cards that the Duel Platform could read could be Virtual Projected.
There's no need to think too hard about these "some companies"; they were the patent holder for the Virtual Projection System - KaibaCorp. At the same time, a large number of medium-sized companies took on the production of this high-tech product, the Duel Platform, such as Manjoume Shouji's family's "Manjoume Conglomerate".
It's worth mentioning that Kaiba hasn't appeared at School since the day he lost his Duel against Yugi. It's said he's already dropped out.
With the release of new Cards, and Yugi having a Grandpa who runs a Game Shop, it was natural that this advantage wouldn't be wasted. He acquired many "interesting" Trap Cards early on, such as [Angel's Hand Mirror], [Sword of Revealing Light], and, for example, the Hanoi's Worship - I mean [Mirror Force].
Because of this, Joey Wheeler , who repeatedly challenged Yugi, gained many new ways to lose - failing by having his Monster on the Field removed by [Angel's Hand Mirror] via Fusion, failing by having a large number of Monsters bounced back by [Mirror Force] and losing all his Life Points, and so on.
Hayato also initially considered whether to exchange the Trap Cards he had that were still Spell Cards, such as [Time Machine], [Ojama Trio], etc. However, the System, for once, showed kindness, providing a free exchange function for the new versions, saving Hayato some trouble.
At the same time, over the past month, Hayato also Dueled with others several times, accumulating a considerable amount of DP Points, all of which he used to open Packs, greatly increasing the strength of his Deck. Even in Hayato's most frequently used mixed Deck, the only Monsters with ATK below 1000 were [Death Stalker] and the [Ojama] brothers.
He also discovered something at the same time, which was that the [Basic Card Pack] in the System's [Shop] seemed to be like the [Custom Booster Pack] he had purchased; it would make slight adjustments based on the composition of his own Deck. Initially, most of what Hayato pulled were Warrior Type Monsters, but as the Card Pool deepened, the number of Beast-Type and Dragon Type gradually began to increase.
The only thing that made Hayato feel regret was that Pegasus somehow never agreed to implement the Rules from the later Battle City era. 4000 LP, Fusion from Hand, Tribute Summon, and Direct Attack, etc. Duels would clearly be more interesting that way.
"Whether it's Weevil of the Insects, or Rex of the Dinosaurs, both of them are quite strong Duelists," Yugi couldn't help but exclaim as he watched the Match on the TV Screen. "Just because of the addition of Trap Cards, Duel Monsters has become so interesting! I really look forward to how much Duel Monsters will evolve in the future."
Of course, it's because the environment kept accelerating with the appearance of Synchro, resulting in a fast-forward to world destruction.
"Speaking of which, why didn't Hayato and Yugi participate in the Qualifiers?" Téa noticed something and turned her head to ask.
Hayato was taking his Deck out of the System and drawing his opening Hand of five Cards. Hearing Téa 's question, he thought for a moment before giving his answer: "Probably because I feel that 'national' or whatever is too small-scale. Although I still can't defeat Yugi, my goal is to be the Strongest Duelist in the entire world."
"Hayato, you can definitely do it." Yugi encouraged with a smile, then replied to Téa , "As for me, it's because I want to Duel with that person."
Joey Wheeler furrowed his brow: "That person, are you referring to that guy Kaiba?"
"'Mhm.' Yugi nodded. 'Kaiba, he didn't understand the Power of the 'Heart' contained within the Cards before. I want to have a proper Duel with Kaiba again, now that he understands the 'Heart' of the Cards.'"
Joey Wheeler , however, didn't quite agree with Yugi's words: "That guy Kaiba, can he really understand the 'Heart' of the Cards? I really can't believe that person."
"Hey, it looks like a Victory is about to be decided." Tristan 's view on Duel Monsters was more just that it was an interesting Game; it hadn't reached the level of "Duelist's honor and dignity" that Yugi, Joey Wheeler , and the others had, let alone the mysterious Power of the "Heart", so he didn't join their discussion. However, the Materialized Duel Monsters on the TV Screen were still very cool.
Reminded by Tristan , everyone shifted their attention back to the TV Screen.
They saw that Weevil's Field only had his last [Basic Insect] with 500 ATK and one Set Card, while Rex had Summoned the powerful Dinosaur-Type [Horned Dinosaur] with 1800 ATK to his Field and also Equipped it with the Spell Card [Rising Energy], boosting its ATK to a full 2100 points.
[Rex: 100 LP]
[Weevil: 600 LP]
"You have the advantage in Life Points, but my Monster can clear out your Life Points in one go, Weevil!" Rex laughed excitedly, Victory seemed within his grasp. "[Horned Dinosaur] Attack [Basic Insect]!"
Weevil chuckled and flipped open his Set Card: "You still haven't learned your lesson, Rex. I Activate my Set Card, [Savior's Antlion Pit]!"
A whirlwind of sand and dust swept forth. The massive [Horned Dinosaur] was trapped by the sudden quicksand before it could even take a step, unable to move.
"My [Horned Dinosaur]!"
"Like this, you're completely fish on a chopping block, Rex." Revealing a [Sinister Smile], Weevil played two Spell Cards consecutively: "[Laser Cannon Armor] and [Equip Shot] will be Equipped to [Basic Insect], then Attack the defenseless [Horned Dinosaur]!"
Two beams of light flew out from the Cards Weevil Activated, landing on [Basic Insect] and transforming into two seemingly powerful cannon combinations, greatly increasing [Basic Insect]'s ATK.
As a laser beam shot out from the cannon on [Basic Insect]'s back, [Horned Dinosaur] was destroyed, Rex's Life Points were completely reduced to zero, and the Match was decided. Finally, "Insect" Weevil became the champion of Japan's National Duel Monsters Tournament.
