Chapter 49: Hayato: I Predicted Pegasus's Operation
Hayato led Ji-chan and the others out of the living room and closed the door. Almost simultaneously, Yugi inserted the Videotape he held into the Television.
A snowy image appeared on the screen, but soon, with a distortion, the figure of a silver-haired man materialized. The man, quite familiarly, waved at Yugi before the image, smiling as he greeted him: "Hello~ Yugi boy, you've kept me waiting for so long."
"The one who just appeared on the Television, Pegasus!?" Yugi had considered many possibilities, but he never expected this Videotape to contain the image of the Father of Duel Monsters—Pegasus. Seeing the prominent figure they had just discussed with his friends appear, Yugi was somewhat surprised.
"Nice to meet you, Yugi boy~ This is a Videotape I sent to my dear Yugi boy. The reason, as Hayato boy just explained, is my recognition of your Dueling Prowess for defeating Kaiba boy." With a smile on his face, Pegasus inadvertently said something that made Yugi's expression change drastically.
"Just now, Hayato explained?! This is clearly just a Videotape."
Yugi just subconsciously mumbled a sentence, but unexpectedly, Pegasus in the Videotape actually responded to his words: "Of course, it's just a Videotape, but I had already predicted what would happen in the future, whether it's Hayato boy explaining things, or any actions you, Yugi boy, will take next."
"For example, your next sentence is: 'Predicting the future?! How could something like that be real!'"
"Predicting the future?! How could something like—how could it be possible!" Yugi's words blurted out, but halfway through, he was astonished to find that the words he subconsciously spoke were exactly the same as what Pegasus had just predicted.
"Although we could chat for a long time, unfortunately, my time is truly very limited, and the Videotape's time is also restricted." As Pegasus spoke, the smile on his face faded, leaving only a slight curve at the corner of his mouth. "So, let's quickly start your test, Yugi boy."
Yugi was just about to say that he didn't really have any intention of participating in the Match Hayato had mentioned earlier. In his Heart, the ephemeral title of "Duel King" wasn't very important. But just as he was about to refuse, suddenly, a rapidly spreading Invisible Wave surged from the Television screen, filling the entire room in an instant.
Outside the room, Hayato was explaining to Joey Wheeler and the others why he had brought them out.
"Ah~ I'm really curious about what was recorded on that Videotape." Joey Wheeler felt like a cat was constantly scratching inside his Heart. Although he had walked outside the door, his gaze kept glancing towards the living room.
Hayato moved a chair for Grandpa Solomon to sit on and explained to Joey Wheeler : "Think, think, Joey Wheeler . Who would be qualified to invite Yugi to that Match, and what would be his reason for recording a Videotape?"
"Even if you ask me, I wouldn't know."
"Actually, the answer isn't important. What's important is that the other party is definitely a prominent figure to some extent. The Videotape he mailed to Yugi might contain some extremely confidential matters. If possible, we should—"
Midway through his sentence, Hayato suddenly felt a powerful Dark Power coming from behind him. He could feel his Consciousness becoming sluggish bit by bit, and his Body couldn't move even an inch.
The several people before him were also affected. Grandpa Solomon , Téa , Tristan , and Joey Wheeler 's Bodies were swept by that Invisible Wave. Their Bodies instantly became rigid, and their eyes turned vacant, as if they had been frozen.
Although Hayato's situation was slightly better than Joey Wheeler 's and he could still perceive that something was happening, his own thoughts were undoubtedly being frozen little by little. Seeing that he was about to completely lose his self-Consciousness and the ability to sense everything around him, Hayato used his last bit of Strength to say a sentence:
"You guys, time to get to work!"
Following his command, five balls of light flew out from Hayato's pocket, attaching themselves to various parts of his Body.
The taciturn [Gaia The Fierce Knight] restored the freedom of Hayato's left hand;
The [Ojama] brothers each hugged Hayato's left foot, right foot, and right hand, while also dancing strangely and having fun by themselves;
Finally, a [Kuriboh] with a colorful Body landed on Hayato's hair.
The five Monsters each protected a part of Hayato's Body, combining their respective Powers just like [Exodia The Forbidden One]. With the convergence of Spirit Power, Hayato's previously drooping hair stood on end, looking exactly like some hair gel user pursuing Power.
The Dark Power spreading from the living room created a stalemate with the five Monsters' Spirit Power, but a winner was quickly decided. The Power that seemed to freeze time was shattered by the aggregated Spirit Power. Hayato's Body trembled violently, and he knelt on the ground on one knee. His clothes were soaked with sweat as if he had just been pulled out of water, and he was gasping for air.
"Phew~ I almost failed. Luckily, I managed to awaken [Gaia] before today, otherwise, the others wouldn't have been useful at all." Looking at the five Cards that had slipped out of his pocket, Hayato smiled wearily. Looking at the figures before him, he said, "Thank you for your hard work, [Gaia]."
"Fortunately, I did not fail my mission." [Gaia The Fierce Knight]'s face was covered by his helmet. Hayato couldn't see his Expression, only hear his muffled voice coming from inside the helmet. [Gaia] calmly accepted Hayato's praise, but the others were somewhat displeased—
[Ojama Yellow] jumped down from Hayato's arm and stood with its brothers, protesting to Hayato: "Aniki, that's so mean~ We clearly put in a lot of effort too~"
"Exactly! I was so tired I used up all my muscles!" [Ojama Green] flexed its arm, seemingly trying to show off the muscles it didn't have.
"Aniki, we won't forgive you unless you treat us to a meal. Oh right, what should we eat?" [Ojama Black] opened its tiny beady eyes that looked like they weren't even there and finally managed to put on a serious Expression, but the drool quickly running down its mouth betrayed its goofy nature—though it had never tried to hide it anyway.
Hayato, however, ignored the clowning [Ojama] brothers and looked at the colorful [Kuriboh] flying towards his palm—[Rainbow Kuriboh]: "I have you to thank too, Partner."
"Ah, he completely ignored us?" "And he called the newcomer 'Partner'!" "We were clearly here first~"
"Kuri~ Kurikuri~" [Rainbow Kuriboh] squinted its eyes, acting cute towards Hayato, and rubbed against Hayato's Finger. It glanced disdainfully at the three [Ojama] brothers below, as if saying:
"This is the Expression I've always wanted to see, this jealous Expression, hahahaha~"
"That guy is so annoying!" *3
