Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: The Final Stand

The battle raged on, with Kael and Kaito refusing to give in, their bodies pushed to the limit. Despite the God Beast's relentless regeneration, they had landed several solid hits, and each blow seemed to weaken it just a little bit more. Yet the creature's resilience was unlike anything Kael had ever faced before. Every time they thought they had it cornered, it regenerated, its green-marked skin flashing brighter as if mocking their efforts.

Kael stood tall, sweat dripping down his brow as he surveyed the beast before him. His chest rose and fell with every breath, but his resolve never wavered. He had faced impossible odds before—but this was different. This beast wasn't just a monster—it was a force of nature, something beyond the comprehension of any Wielder.

But Kael wasn't about to let it destroy everything he held dear.

"Stay focused, Kaito!" Kael called out, his voice unwavering. "We can't afford to let it recover again! We need to break through its core—if we can pierce its heart, it'll be over."

Kaito nodded, his fists crackling with power as he prepared for another attack. "I've got your back, Kael!"

The God Beast let out a deafening roar, its eyes blazing with fury as it charged toward them once more. This time, its movements were faster, more erratic, its body twisting and turning in unnatural ways. Its claws slashed through the air with deadly precision, and its tail lashed out in every direction, leaving no place for Kael and Kaito to hide.

But Kael and Kaito weren't backing down. They had faced stronger foes, and they had come out on top. They would not let this creature be the one to break them.

Kael focused his energy, drawing from the depths of his Ilyrian heritage. His body pulsed with raw power as he activated his Overdrive, a concentrated burst of energy that amplified his strength and speed tenfold. In a blur of motion, Kael appeared in front of the beast, his Void Blade aimed directly at its chest.

At the same time, Kaito surged forward, his fists glowing with a brilliant light. He punched the beast's side with a force that seemed to shake the very air around them.

The God Beast staggered, its body visibly weakening under their combined assault. But as it staggered, it unleashed a retaliatory attack, its tail snapping forward like a whip, aiming directly for Kael's midsection.

"Kael! Watch out!" Kaito shouted, but it was too late.

Kael was struck with a direct hit, and the force of the blow sent him crashing into the ground, his body skidding several feet before he came to a stop. Pain exploded through his chest, but Kael grit his teeth and forced himself to his feet, blood trickling from his mouth.

He wouldn't fall now.

"Kael! You okay?!" Kaito called out, rushing to his side.

"I'm fine," Kael replied through gritted teeth. "This fight isn't over yet."

They both turned back toward the God Beast, which was still struggling to regenerate, but the wounds they had inflicted were starting to catch up with it. Kael and Kaito knew that this was their moment—the creature was on the verge of collapsing.

But would they be able to land the final blow before it could recover again?
