Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: The Beast's Resilience

The ground trembled beneath Kael's feet as the God Beast let out another earth-shattering roar. Its body was a twisted spectacle, constantly morphing and regenerating with every strike. Despite the damage Kael and Kaito had inflicted, the creature's strength was far from spent. It was a force of nature, a creature of pure destruction that seemed to feed on the chaos around it.

Kael's breath came in ragged gasps as he stood firm, surveying the beast before him. The scar that had been left across the creature's skull from his earlier attack had already begun to heal, the grotesque green mark on its skin flashing brighter with each second.

"Kael!" Kaito called out, his voice strained with exertion. "It's healing too fast! If we don't finish it now, we'll be the ones who need saving!"

Kael gritted his teeth, the weight of Kaito's words heavy on his mind. They had already pushed the beast to its limits—but its unnatural regeneration made it almost impossible to defeat. The creature wasn't just powerful; it was relentless, unyielding, and seemed to be getting stronger with every passing moment.

"We have to disrupt its healing!" Kael barked, his eyes narrowing as he assessed the creature's movements. "If we can stop it from regenerating, we can break it down piece by piece."

Kaito nodded, his face grim as he surveyed the beast's gaping wounds. "I'll do my best, but if we're going to stop it, we need to land a blow that will last. Every time we hit it, it just comes back stronger."

"I know," Kael replied, his voice low. "But this time… we'll hit it harder."

With a sudden burst of energy, Kael surged forward, his body blurring with the speed of his Voidstep. His blade, crackling with the power of the Last Will, sliced through the air toward the beast's exposed underbelly. But the creature's twisted form reacted faster than he had anticipated. It arched its back, twisting its body in mid-air and dodging the attack with unnatural agility.

Kael cursed under his breath, realizing how much faster the creature had become since they started.

Before he could react, the beast's clawed tail whipped toward him, a blur of movement. Kael barely managed to dodge, feeling the gust of wind as the tail missed by inches. But he wasn't quick enough to avoid the aftershock—the tail slammed into the ground where he had just stood, sending a shockwave through the air.

Kaito moved in, his aura flaring as he used his Overdrive to boost his speed. He charged toward the creature's flank, his fists glowing with energy. His first punch landed square on the creature's side, but it didn't even flinch. Instead, it twisted its head and snapped its jaws, aiming for Kaito's arm.

With a yell, Kaito managed to pull back just in time, but the creature's teeth scraped across his armor, leaving deep scratches. He gritted his teeth in frustration, realizing that they weren't making enough of a dent in its defenses.

Kael appeared beside him, and together, they launched a synchronized attack. Kael's Void Blade slashed horizontally, and Kaito followed with a crushing fist. The blow struck the beast's side, sending a burst of energy through the air. For a moment, the creature staggered, its massive form wobbling on its feet.

It was the first real sign of weakness they had seen from it in the battle.

"Keep going, Kaito! We're getting closer!" Kael shouted, his voice filled with determination.

Kaito nodded, his breathing heavy but controlled. "Right! Let's finish this!"

They didn't have much time. The beast was already beginning to regenerate, its pale skin shifting to green once again as it prepared to unleash its devastating counterattack. But Kael and Kaito weren't backing down—they would break it, one strike at a time.
