Chapter 27 - ROMANTIC MY ASS!

"Woooosshh~!"

In the middle of the desert, a jeep was tearing down the sand at eighty miles an hour, kicking up a storm of yellow grit in its wake. Chasing after it in the swirling sand was a massive shadow—catching up bit by bit as it accelerated, the gap between hunter and prey shrinking with every passing second.

"Come on, snap out of it yinsen, so why are you keep chasing me?!" Raiden glanced nervously at the rearview mirror, his anxiety climbing higher by the second.

'If Yinsen catches me... I'll be toast, right? Am I really about to get offed by one of my own friends?'

Images of werewolves hunting their prey flashed through Raiden mind. Chomped in half, ripped apart, split in two? Oh, hell no! When he pictured those scenes, Deadpool suddenly crossed Raiden mind—if Deadpool got torn into shreds, he probably wouldn't die, but what if Deadpool got eaten? Now, that would be an interesting debate.

But before Raiden could ponder it further, the jeep shuddered with a jolt—something had just slammed into the rear. Raiden quickly checked the mirror. From within the gusting sands, Yinsen burst into view, right on the heels of the jeep. Raiden could even see saliva flying from Yinsen mouth, sparkling in the moonlight.

"BANG!"

Another hard impact—this time, the sheer force sent the high-speed jeep careening out of control, spinning it sideways off the road. Thankfully, they were in the desert, so the jeep didn't crash into anything solid. It finally came to a stop on a sandy slope, half-buried in the dunes.

Raiden head slammed hard into the steering wheel. Combined with the dizziness from spinning, he felt totally woozy and collapsed weakly back into his seat.

"Ugh..." Raiden clutched his head and shook it, wincing in pain.

"Awoooooooo!"

A long howl jolted Raiden clouded thoughts a bit clearer. Peering through the rearview mirror, he saw Yinsen slowly approaching step by step, eyes fixed on him, moving just like a beast ready to pounce.

Raiden, rattled and frustrated from the crash, realized it was going to come down to a showdown with Yinsen today.

"I'll show you my head isn't just for decoration..." Raiden muttered, fumbling for the door handle. But the crash seemed to have jammed the door already. He yanked it a few times, only managing to produce creaking sounds.

Suddenly, a gust of wind—a blur that moved with the speed of a storm—flashed right through the center of the vehicle...

"crr—kk"

Raiden felt a chill run down his back.

"Oh, so this is the way out! Hi there! Annyeonghaseyo!" Raiden waved amicably at Yinsen, putting on a friendly smile.

"Roaaaaar!"

Yinsen sprang forward, tackling Raiden to the ground, jaws gaping wide as he roared in Raiden face, so close that his spit sprayed all over Raiden.

Come on, you think you're the only one who knows how to roar? I can do that too!

"FusRoDah!"

With a mighty Dragon Shout, Raiden voice exploded outward, launching Yinsen into the air.

Yinsen crashed down hard, sending up a cloud of sand and gravel. But in that moment, Raiden felt the chill of death surround him—an icy presence engulfing him. The shadow slowly struggled up... and then disappeared!

A wolf wild nature is to go for the prey back—clamping down on the neck, tearing into the main artery, letting the prey die with a whimpering cry. Now, right behind him!

Raiden hurriedly rolled to one side—but suddenly! A hand—no, a claw—grabbed and hauled him back.

'Yoink'

WTF, dude, seriously? You're not playing by the usual rules here. You're supposed to miss the first strike, then wait for another chance—not nab me straight away. What kind of wolf just yanks people around like this?!

Just like a chick by the scruff, Raiden was lifted off the ground by Yinsen. Four eyes met—hunger burning in Yinsen golden irises. But Raiden gaze was just as fierce—his eyes filled with aggression.

When you're face to face with a predator, you absolutely cannot show fear. If your eyes show no hint of terror, a hunter will get cautious—they won't dare to attack rashly.

Raiden felt no fear, so during that stare-down with Yinsen, he had the upper hand. The two were frozen in that moment. Under the desert moonlight, a massive shadow nearly three meters tall stood unmoving, a human figure dangling from his hand.

Bathed in soft silver light, the pair looked almost dreamlike—their faces close together, like two people snuggled up affectionately. In another context, it might have been a romantic scene.

ROMANTIC MY ASS!

Yinsen was waiting—it was his beast instinct. Waiting for an opening, for that split-second when Raiden let down his guard. The moment it came, he'd snap Raiden neck and enjoy a nice meal.

Raiden was waiting too... waiting for the approach of death.

Raiden body suddenly sagged.

Crap, his clothes had finally given way—the scavenged shirt he picked up splitting apart under the strain. In that instant, Raiden slipped up.

Yinsen massive jaws lunged at Raiden neck—too fast for him to react!

"Stop!"

Raiden suddenly shouted, pouring all his will to survive into his voice—without realizing, his shout was laced with the power of the Dragon Shout. Empowered by Dragon Shout, his command made Yinsen freeze in mid-action—Yinsen wide-open jaws just inches from Raiden throat.

"Fuck."

Raiden cursed under his breath.

No sooner had he spoken, several fireballs flew from behind, slamming into Yinsen body and knocking him away, so Raiden dropped back to the ground. The close-range flame caught Raiden pants, so he yanked them off in a hurry.

After that exchange, Raiden suddenly realized... Damn, his clothes and pants were gone.

Yinsen stared at Raiden athletic, perfectly sculpted body and drooled hungrily—seriously, the hungry kind not that kind of stare. Driven by that need, Yinsen lunged at Raiden again.

"FoKrahDiin!"

Raiden unleashed a surge of power, Yinsen, dashing at high speed, was instantly frozen. Enveloped in solid ice, Yinsen couldn't budge—the power of frost locked him in place, frozen as he ran.

Dragons don't rely on fire alone, they command the power of frost and every element. Raiden ice breath froze Yinsen solid—but it drained almost all his energy. Frost breath takes a lot more out of you than Unrelenting Force.

Just as Raiden relaxed and tried to catch his breath—

"crack"

A weird sound caught his ear—from Yinsen, from the ice itself...

"Ohhmaiigod, this guy's straight up cheating! Who the hell made werewolves this OP?!"

Cracks split across the thick block of ice trapping Yinsen.

Seeing the spreading fractures, Raiden half-crawled, half-staggered to the wrecked jeep, grabbing the rifle from inside.

"Boooom!"

The ice exploded, and Yinsen burst free from his cage, launching himself viciously at Raiden.

"Dadada!"

Raiden fired in bursts—the bullets striking Yinsen body, but doing nothing to stop him. The shots didn't even slow Yinsen down. Raiden tossed the gun aside with a mutter,

"Told you this thing was useless."

Once again, Yinsen tackled Raiden to the ground. But this time, Raiden was completely out of energy—he couldn't muster any strength to resist.

Looking into Yinsen bloodthirsty eyes, Raiden clenched his fists—there was no way he'd let his life end here; he wouldn't let Yinsen end him. For his own sake, and for Yinsen, Raiden couldn't fall here—he didn't want his brother living with the guilt of killing him.

Within Raiden eyes, the ghostly blue flame of his soul began to burn. This—the desert—would not be his grave!

"Come back, my brother!" Raiden eyes flashed with light, his body surged with renewed strength!
