Chapter 79 - Chapter 79: A Fan’s Live Encounter with Their Idol

The Twelve Zodiac Bronze Head kept inside the Island Nation's embassy was the Dog Head, a top-level classified artifact.

So no matter how Harrison asked, Matsumoto Kinzo was never going to tell him.

Whenever Kaitō Kid sends out a calling card, he always steals one item. And that item must be of global significance—something truly worthy of his attention.

Harrison knew full well that Matsumoto was lying. But he also understood—some matters, especially state-level secrets, simply couldn't be shared.

"Mr. Matsumoto, I hope you understand—if we at least know what Kaitō Kid is after, we'll be able to guard against it more effectively."

"Of course, if it's a classified matter, we'll respect your position. Just know that the risk will be much higher."

Even with the elite guards and FBI presence at Carlos's estate, Kaitō Kid had slipped right in and out. Their weapons were never even used properly. The only person they ended up hitting was Itō Itsuki.

Matsumoto Kinzo knew how terrifying Kaitō Kid could be.

But secrecy was secrecy. There was nothing he could do about it now. All he could do was silently pray.

Once they stepped out of the office, Frank couldn't hold back his frustration anymore.

"Fuck! If he won't tell us what's inside the Island Nation's embassy, how the hell are we supposed to set up defense?"

Frank had brought all thirty-plus of his people along, and added to that his eight personal agents. Altogether, they had over forty operatives.

While that wasn't a massive force, it was definitely enough to secure one embassy.

The problem was the crowd gathering outside the Island Nation's embassy. They had all seen Zhang Yang's calling card post and rushed over to see the show—specifically, to catch the "celebration fireworks."

"Wow! I hope I get to see Kaitō Kid's fireworks with my own eyes!"

"Hahaha, you will. Harrison and Frank have never been able to catch him!"

"What could even be in the Island Nation's embassy that he'd want?"

"No clue! But if the calling card says he's showing up here, I'm here for Kaitō Kid!"

Frank stared at the crowd, and his frown deepened.

"Fuck! Get them all out of here!"

"Gathering this many people right now is just giving Kaitō Kid more cover to work with!"

FBI agents quickly moved out from the embassy and started clearing the area.

Among the crowd were people livestreaming the scene, and when they saw FBI agents emerging from the embassy, the livestream comments exploded.

[What the hell? Frank's guys actually went to the Island Nation's embassy? Didn't they shoot Itō Itsuki just last night?]

[When it comes to national interests, who the hell cares about one Itō Itsuki!]

[Hahaha, so that shot to Itō Itsuki's leg really was for nothing, huh?]

[The Island Nation's embassy didn't have a choice. Either they bend the knee, or face Kaitō Kid alone!]

[This morning they were screaming about accountability. By the afternoon, they're shaking hands with the FBI. Proof that if your face is thick enough, you never have to worry about losing it!]

This time, Frank learned from his past failure. He didn't act prematurely.

Only when darkness fully fell did he enter high alert mode.

"Director Harrison, I just hope we actually see Kaitō Kid tonight. Even a glimpse of his silhouette would be something."

Back at Carlos's estate, they hadn't even seen the guy, and yet the bronze Sheep Head was gone from the vault.

Under a starry sky, the Island Nation's embassy was under the tightest lockdown it had ever seen.

Not just their own guards, but also Eagle Nation's FBI and Britain's MI5 were now stationed on site.

This was the most chaotic night in the history of the Island Nation's embassy.

Inside and outside the embassy, everyone was anticipating Kaitō Kid's arrival—wondering how he would show up this time.

Itō Itsuki had already proven to be a cautionary tale. If spotted, they would not hesitate to open fire.

Zhang Yang had no intention of dodging bullets again—or worse, getting turned into a sieve.

Just as the tension peaked and everyone was nervously waiting, all the lights suddenly went out.

Several blocks surrounding the Island Nation's embassy lost power—traffic lights, street lamps, everything went dark.

The crowd outside erupted in cheers.

"Oh my god! Kaitō Kid is about to appear!"

"Where is he? Where?"

"He even shut off the streetlights!"

"Oh shit! It's pitch-black—this is the perfect setting for Kaitō Kid!"

The sky was overcast, and the moonlight flickered weakly between the clouds.

With zero light sources, it was a complete disadvantage for Frank and Harrison's teams.

"Fuck!"

"It has to be Kaitō Kid's doing—he's here!"

At this point, they still hadn't spotted even a glimpse of Kaitō Kid, but Frank had already drawn his sidearm.

An hour earlier, Zhang Yang had slipped over to a nearby power distribution box and planted a timed water bomb inside.

Water-triggered short circuits were deadly to these boxes. The blackout was all part of the plan.

[Ding!]

[Temporary item redeemed: Monocle]

Kaitō Kid's monocle included full-spectrum night vision. Even in total darkness, it could illuminate the world as if it were daylight—an almost absurd level of visibility.

"Time to make up for the fireworks I missed last night."

Zhang Yang peeked through the embassy's back entrance.

More than a dozen FBI agents were stationed near the back door.

In the pitch dark, even their patrols had become slow and cautious.

Harrison had his agents launch a few recon drones. He knew they'd likely be shot down, but at least they had thermal imaging and night vision—which they desperately needed.

Just then, Matsumoto Kinzo ran out of his office in a panic. He hadn't expected this.

"What?! A blackout over several whole blocks?"

He had thought it was just the embassy's power. But stepping outside and seeing the full extent of it, he was utterly stunned.

Meanwhile, Zhang Yang calmly stepped into the embassy, keeping a safe distance from the FBI agents.

In the darkness, at most they would see his silhouette. As long as he didn't panic or act suspiciously, they would never notice that one of the shadowy figures was actually Kaitō Kid.

Up front, the guards were growing restless. Still no sign of Kaitō Kid.

"Oh my god! He still hasn't appeared?"

"The power's been out for minutes. What's he waiting for?"

"Bro, if we could spot Kaitō Kid, Harrison and Frank would've caught him by now. For all we know, he's already inside the embassy!"

"God, I just hope we get to see him. Please let me see him!"

These were all Zhang Yang's fans. They came not for justice or security—they just wanted to catch a glimpse of Kaitō Kid in person.

The first thing Zhang Yang did after entering the embassy was begin searching for the location of the Dog Head.

The Island Nation's embassy wasn't particularly large. The main building had six floors, with a shorter three-story structure serving as the cafeteria.

Next to the cafeteria was a residential area.
