The Dog Head of the Twelve Bronze Zodiac was far too important to be stored in common areas like the cafeteria or residential quarters.
The lower floors looked open and unsecured, clearly not where they'd hide something that valuable.
But on the fifth and sixth floors, each level held dozens of rooms, all locked with dual-layer security.
Zhang Yang immediately knew he was in the right place.
"So many rooms... which one are they using to store it?"
Two full floors packed with rooms—checking them one by one was completely out of the question.
Instead, Zhang Yang headed straight for the rooftop.
There was no need to search room by room. As long as he lit the fireworks, they'd panic and expose themselves.
And just his luck—he'd barely reached the roof when two reconnaissance drones buzzed up.
With a flick of his wrist, two red playing cards appeared between his fingers.
In a fluid motion, he flung them through the air.
Just as the agents spotted Zhang Yang in the drone footage, the feed cut—both drones taken down simultaneously.
"Harrison, Kaitō Kid is on the roof!"
"Two drones down—simultaneous impact!"
Harrison didn't even flinch. He immediately ordered Frank to take a team up to the rooftop.
Meanwhile, Zhang Yang moved fast.
Before they could arrive, he set off the fireworks.
Three full crates launched at once, filling the sky with color, lighting up the entire Island Nation embassy in a radiant display.
Outside, the crowd of fans went wild.
"Wow! Kaitō Kid!"
"Hahaha! It's the celebration fireworks! I can't believe we're seeing them this fast!"
"Oh my god! I saw him! It's really him!"
"Harrison and Frank aren't doing anything! That means they haven't even noticed he's gotten inside!"
If they had, they'd probably be firing already. Zhang Yang had no intention of ending up like Itō Itsuki.
[Oh shit! How did Kaitō Kid even get in there?!]
[Harrison and Frank must be stunned! Sure, the blackout was a warning sign—but they definitely didn't expect him to show up on the roof!]
[And let's not forget—he set off fireworks too!]
[God, I'm so jealous. Watching this live must've had everyone's adrenaline spiking!]
Zhang Yang didn't linger on the rooftop.
He knew Harrison and Frank would be there any second.
Outside the embassy, someone had a telescope trained on the roof. They could see every move he made.
When Zhang Yang reached the edge and leapt off the rooftop, the entire crowd watching through the lens froze in shock.
"WTF?! Kaitō Kid just jumped!"
"Oh—he really jumped?! From the top floor?!"
"Oh my god! I should've brought binoculars too!"
"Shit! He really did it! That guy's insane!"
Thanks to his maxed-out Enhanced Physique, Zhang Yang landed effortlessly—catching himself on a fourth-floor security grille and clinging to the side of the building like it was nothing.
By the time Harrison and Frank reached the rooftop, there was no trace of him left.
Only half the fireworks had even gone off.
The rooftop was wide open, offering a clear line of sight—there was nowhere for anyone to hide.
"Fuck! He's already gone!"
Harrison's expression turned dark.
He didn't mind not seeing Kaitō Kid—what bothered him most was when Kaitō Kid let them see him on purpose... only to vanish moments later.
He'd been played too many times to fall for it again.
This could only mean one of two things: either Kaitō Kid had already secured the Dog Head and was ready to leave...
Or he hadn't stolen it yet, and this was all just another masterful diversion to draw their attention.
Harrison turned to Matsumoto Kinzo with a hard stare.
"Mr. Matsumoto, do you really believe he lured us up here just to watch his fireworks show?"
Matsumoto Kinzo was already a bundle of nerves. He froze in panic for a second, then finally snapped back to his senses.
"Ah?!"
"He lured us to the rooftop—he's trying to divert our attention!"
Frank shouted, his voice rising in urgency. "Then what are you standing there for? Take us to it!"
"What is it that he's trying to steal?"
Matsumoto glanced at Frank but didn't answer the question.
The matter was classified. Unless absolutely necessary, he wasn't going to reveal it.
"Captain Frank, I can't tell you that, but I can take you to where it's stored."
Frank gave a cold, sarcastic laugh.
"Okay, okay!"
"Then take us there right now!"
As long as they knew Kaitō Kid's target, that was enough. Neither Frank nor Harrison particularly cared what the embassy was hiding.
Meanwhile, Zhang Yang was already lurking in a corner on the sixth floor, having swapped back into an FBI uniform.
As Frank and Harrison's group made their way down from the rooftop in a flurry, Zhang Yang silently merged into the rear of the formation.
In the total darkness, no one noticed that an extra person had joined the back of the group.
Matsumoto led them to the fifth floor and stopped in front of a room.
"Director Harrison, Captain Frank, I'll have to ask you to wait outside."
Matsumoto's tone was stern and formal.
When it came to confidential matters, there was no room for compromise.
Harrison narrowed his eyes slightly and pressed for confirmation.
"The item... it's in there?"
Matsumoto nodded and turned to input a passcode, unlocking the door.
He quickly stepped inside and shut the door behind him.
Zhang Yang caught a brief glimpse of the room's interior through the momentarily open door. It looked like a record storage room—shelves full of documents, no sign of a vault.
Zhang Yang frowned to himself.
"The Dog Head is kept in there?"
Outside, Frank and Harrison waited.
Moments later, Matsumoto emerged. After confirming the artifact was still inside, he visibly relaxed.
"The item's still there. Kaitō Kid hasn't taken it."
Frank exhaled deeply, joy and relief all over his face.
"As long as it's still here, we still have a shot."
"Team One, Team Two—stay here."
"Everyone else, sweep the building. If you find Kaitō Kid, engage immediately!"
Frank was fired up. Now that the target was confirmed, everything else felt manageable.
But Harrison wasn't convinced.
"Captain Frank, don't you think this is a little strange?"
"Kaitō Kid hasn't taken the item yet, so why set off fireworks from the rooftop?"
"Every move he makes is deliberate. It's all part of his plan."
Frank looked at Matsumoto, then back at the secured room, brushing Harrison off.
"Director Harrison, maybe you're just overthinking it."
"We already know what he's after. Does it really matter what the rest of his plan looks like?"
Harrison had no response. Frank wasn't entirely wrong either.
Zhang Yang, still blended into the group, simply watched it all play out.
Now that he knew the Dog Head's location, the room was being guarded even more heavily.
Trying to get in through the main entrance was definitely out of the question.
Frank, Harrison, and two full FBI teams were right there—if Zhang Yang tried anything now, they'd turn him into Swiss cheese.
So he didn't hesitate.
Without a word, he dropped a Super Smoke Bomb at his feet.
