Chapter 78 - Chapter 78: A New Calling Card! Target: Island Nation Embassy!

Harrison absentmindedly responded to Frank. His mind was elsewhere—specifically, wondering whether Kaitō Kid would continue his operations in the Eagle Nation or return to Britain.

As long as a new calling card hadn't surfaced, Harrison wasn't even thinking about taking action. Kaitō Kid always acted precisely according to the time and place on the card. Not before, not after.

Frank, on the other hand, was absolutely livid at Harrison's attitude.

"Fuck! Harrison, what's that supposed to mean?"

"You think we have all the time in the world?"

"Kaitō Kid could slip away any minute now—we need to catch him before he gets out of the country!"

Harrison glanced up at him, clearly annoyed.

"Captain Frank, if you think you can catch him, or you know where he is, then go for it. Don't waste your time yelling at me."

"My advice is to wait until Kaitō Kid releases his next calling card. Without it, there's no chance of catching him."

Frank was so furious he could barely speak.

When he got this assignment, he'd assumed Harrison would be a solid teammate. Reality was a slap in the face.

"Harrison, if you're not going to act, then you might as well hop on a plane back to Britain!"

"I'm not saying I'm guaranteed to catch Kaitō Kid—but you, with your attitude, definitely won't!"

Harrison let out a cold laugh.

He used to be just like Frank—full of confidence.

But after a few humiliating run-ins with Kaitō Kid, that confidence had been thoroughly crushed. Frank's turn would come soon enough.

So Harrison didn't bother arguing.

Just as he was about to pour himself a cup of hot water and patiently wait for the next calling card, an agent burst in, clearly excited.

"Director Harrison! Kaitō Kid just posted a new update—he's released his next calling card!"

Harrison and Frank both rushed to the screen.

"Beneath the beauty of the night sky, I'll appear at the Island Nation's Embassy in the Eagle Nation, to make up for the fireworks I missed last night!"

Frank's face darkened instantly.

"He's going to the Island Nation's embassy?"

After the incident with Itō Itsuki, tensions between the Eagle Nation and the Island Nation were already high.

If they went storming into the embassy now, Frank doubted they'd be welcomed.

Harrison waved for his team to get ready.

This was the only pattern he could reliably predict with Kaitō Kid.

Every afternoon, or just after lunch, the next calling card would drop. And Kaitō Kid would show up, right on schedule.

"Captain Frank, Kaitō Kid will absolutely be at the Island Nation's embassy tonight. Why are you still standing there?"

At this point, Frank had no choice but to swallow his pride and go. Unless, of course, he no longer wanted to catch Kaitō Kid.

As soon as the new calling card dropped, the comments section exploded.

[Looks like the Island Nation's gonna get hit again—this time it's their embassy! This is gonna be good!]

[What could the embassy even have that's worth Kaitō Kid stealing?]

[Just last night Itō Itsuki got shot, and now the embassy's getting hit? Kaitō Kid's setting the Island Nation on fire!]

[Oh my god! They must absolutely hate Kaitō Kid now. If he robs the embassy tonight, their rage will hit max level!]

[Shit! Will the Island Nation's embassy even cooperate with the FBI after this?]

With the shooting incident unresolved, the two sides were still arguing over who was at fault.

If the Island Nation's embassy refused to let the FBI in, the Eagle Nation could do nothing but stand outside and watch.

At that moment, Matsumoto Kinzo—the official in charge at the Island Nation's embassy—went pale the moment he saw Kaitō Kid's new post.

"Nani?!"

Although he absolutely hated Kaitō Kid—if not for him, Itō Itsuki wouldn't have been shot.

That morning, not only had he been chewed out by his direct superior, he'd even received a call from the Itō clan.

They demanded that he look after Itō Itsuki and, more importantly, locate Kaitō Kid as soon as possible.

The Itō clan wanted revenge for Itō Itsuki!

Now there was no need to look—Kaitō Kid was coming straight to their doorstep.

"Baka yarō! How did Kaitō Kid get wind of this?"

"We've taken every measure to keep this secret—Eagle Nation doesn't even know about it!"

But once Kaitō Kid posts a calling card, he will show up at that location and steal something. That was already common knowledge by now.

The Island Nation's embassy didn't have much worth stealing. The only thing that could possibly interest Kaitō Kid was the Twelve Zodiac Bronze Head currently in their custody.

The artifact had just been delivered the day before Zhang Yang arrived in Eagle Nation. It had been secretly acquired from a private collector there—at great expense.

"Baka yarō! With just the people we've got at the embassy now, there's no way we can stop Kaitō Kid!"

Back in Britain, the Island Nation's embassy had at least Kameda Motoji and several special agents.

But here in Eagle Nation, they only had the embassy security team. The rest were all administrative staff.

Matsumoto Kinzo felt immense pressure. If the bronze head got stolen, he'd have to take full responsibility.

Just then, the phone on his desk rang. It was a call from home.

After he heard the instructions, he looked slightly surprised.

"Sir, you're saying… we should work with the FBI?"

"You want them stationed at the embassy to catch Kaitō Kid?"

Considering Itō Itsuki had been shot by FBI agents, Matsumoto hadn't expected his superiors to suggest cooperation.

Though the Island Nation had agreed to collaborate with the FBI, it was clearly a tactical move. They instructed Matsumoto to keep the bronze head's presence secret—under no circumstances was he to disclose it.

Matsumoto understood the implication perfectly.

Use the FBI to guard the embassy and let them deal with the capture. In essence, use their resources to protect the bronze head.

Within an hour of the calling card's release, Frank and Harrison arrived at the entrance to the Island Nation's embassy.

To Frank's surprise, the guards opened the gates without a fuss.

They didn't interrogate or hassle them—just checked their credentials briefly and let them in.

"Shit. Did the Island Nation finally regain its senses?"

Frank had come mentally prepared for a diplomatic spat—but instead, they were waved through.

A guard escorted Harrison and Frank into the office. Matsumoto Kinzo, upon seeing the two, showed no trace of hostility.

It was like the shooting of Itō Itsuki, and the shouting match back at Carlos's estate, had never happened.

"What the hell? If I'm not mistaken, wasn't that the same guy from the estate yesterday?" Frank muttered to himself.

Before he could dwell on it, Matsumoto bowed in greeting.

"Captain Frank!"

Frank quickly nodded back, recovering from his daze.

At that moment, Harrison had only one pressing question—what on earth did the Island Nation's embassy have that could possibly interest Kaitō Kid?

Carlos's estate had dozens of treasures. But here?

"Mr. Matsumoto, do you know what Kaitō Kid might be after?"

"Is your embassy storing anything valuable?"

Matsumoto didn't show even a flicker of nervousness. He simply shook his head.

"Director Harrison, there's nothing of that sort inside the Island Nation's embassy."
