Watching the bats scatter in all directions, most of them fleeing into the distance, Yu Tianming's expression darkened as he stepped onto an unbroken section of the narrow path.
He didn't pursue. Golden light slowly lit up from the three throats of his dragon-formed heads.
By now, the mini bats split from the Dark Gold Three-Headed Bat King had pulled away by over a hundred meters.
They gathered together, beginning to emit golden mist.
With a bang, the golden mini bats merged once again, reforming into the Dark Gold Three-Headed Bat King.
The bat swarm that had been like a locust plague had already been half slaughtered by Yu Tianming. What remained hovered sparsely more than a hundred meters away.
Seeing so many of its underlings dead or wounded, the Bat King was also enraged.
Three heads and six small eyes glared fiercely at Yu Tianming.
Eerie shrieks echoed continuously from its three heads at the same time.
Yu Tianming's expression changed. 'It must be preparing to unleash a powerful skill.'
He was already affected by the red light released by Tang Chen during the teleportation and couldn't unleash his full strength. If this was a buff skill and it completed the boost, he would be in trouble.
Yu Tianming knew this creature had the ability to regenerate by devouring other blood bats.
Only by destroying all three heads at once, leaving it no chance to devour others, could he truly end this threat.
While his thoughts raced, the shrieks from the Bat King grew louder and its glow brighter.
It had clearly created distance to safely cast its skill, which meant its defense was down during the incantation. Now was the perfect time to strike.
Yu Tianming didn't hesitate. All three dragon mouths opened, unleashing the long-charged electric power.
With electromagnetic sensing to assist aiming and correct trajectories, the three golden electric blasts shot precisely from over a hundred meters and struck the Bat King's heads.
Boom—
There was no suspense. The Dark Gold Three-Headed Bat King didn't even have time to scream before all three heads exploded simultaneously.
A large amount of golden blood splattered. Any blood bat hit by the golden liquid instantly shrieked and perished.
With the Bat King dead, the remaining bats immediately lost their leader and charged at Yu Tianming in a near-suicidal frenzy.
But a headless army not only loses morale, it also loses coordination. Though their numbers remained considerable, these bats could no longer pose a threat.
Seeing them rush over, Yu Tianming released a field of golden lightning within a three-meter radius.
The blood bats kept charging, but as soon as they entered the lightning, they were like mosquitoes flying into an electric bug zapper. With crackling pops, they fell into the blood pool below.
When the final bat dropped into the pool, silence returned once more.
Even with his abundant soul power, using so much lightning left Yu Tianming visibly fatigued.
To prepare for the threats ahead in the Hell Road, Yu Tianming sat on the narrow path to recover.
He meditated every day. The moment he sat down, he entered cultivation mode, quietly regaining his stamina.
Of course, his mind didn't fully immerse. He kept his electromagnetic senses active, alert to any movement nearby.
Half an hour later, Yu Tianming opened his eyes, took out some food and water from his soul guide, and ate a simple meal.
Before entering the Slaughter City, Yu Tianming had deliberately stocked his storage ring with five cubic meters of dry rations and five cubic meters of water to avoid eating anything offered in the city.
For a normal person drinking 1500 milliliters per day, even two years would consume only one cubic meter. But Yu Tianming had a tall frame and fought intensely the entire time. Even without bathing for two years, the water left in the ring was already less than one cubic meter.
The variety of rations had long since lost their appeal, to the point of nausea.
But to restore energy, Yu Tianming forced himself to eat until he was about seventy percent full.
After finishing his meal, he got back up and resumed his journey.
His speed increased again. As he ran, the air gradually turned hotter and hotter.
Eventually, he could see the dark red liquid flowing through the abyss on either side with the naked eye.
A normal person breathing in this scorching air would feel as though their lungs were on fire.
But for Yu Tianming, who had undergone the Ice-Fire Tempering, this level of heat posed no threat at all.
As he ran, Yu Tianming sensed an enemy ahead.
It was a strange snake with fiery red eyes and a dark red body lying flat across the narrow path.
Its eyes weren't especially large, but the intensity in them was even more terrifying than that of the Bat King earlier.
On its head and back were nine bulges, each shaped like a bright red mushroom, glowing faintly as if blood flowed within.
Its abdomen was massive, raised high along the path, and its total length was at least over ten meters.
There was no doubt. This was the Ten-Headed Fiery Sun Snake that Tang San had once encountered.
Decades before Tang San and Hu Liena cleared the Hell Road, both Bibi Dong and Tang Hao had already passed through it twice.
With the temperaments of those two, if they had encountered the Three-Headed Bat King or the Fiery Sun Snake, they would have torn them to pieces.
Yet now, both of these monsters appeared in Yu Tianming's path.
The Three-Headed Bat King was still understandable. It might have been a descendant of the Nine-Headed Bat King that parasitized Tang Chen, and there could have been more than one.
Even if there was only one, this kind of social soul beast was like the Blue Silver Grass—when the Blue Silver Emperor dies, another high-level Blue Silver Grass can take its place. When one Bat King dies, another blood bat could evolve into a new Three-Headed Bat King.
But the Fiery Sun Snake was different. It was an ancient and rare species. How could it possibly appear frequently in the Hell Road?
Even if it did exist, with the personalities of Bibi Dong and Tang Hao, why wouldn't they warn Tang San and Hu Liena about such a monster?
Yu Tianming couldn't help but think, 'Could it be that my performance in the Slaughter City drew too much attention? My all-in-one mage-warrior-tank build might have caught the eye of the Slaughter King.'
'My fights aren't flashy like Tang San's or Hu Liena's. I usually finish things in just a few moves.'
'From the outside, my pressure and combat strength do seem way higher than theirs.'
'So now that I'm walking this Hell Road alone, they've arranged for me the same treatment as if two people were clearing it together?'
'Isn't this just the Slaughter King making things hard for me?'
