Chapter 42 - Chapter 42

(A/N: YOOOOO!!! GUYS WE HIT NUMBER 1. THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT GUYS!!!

Since we hit 900 powerstones already, this is the chapter I promised.)

In a forest, I let out a deep breath as the purple glow around me slowly faded.

My control over Honkai energy…

It has reached 90%.

But for some reason, I just couldn't move beyond roughly that amount of control no matter how hard I tried. Adaptation was moving really slowly for it too right now.

That meant one of two things.

Either anything beyond ninety percent control of this energy is so complicated that it pretty much requires the breaking of the laws of physics…

Or it could mean that there was an external force stopping it.

In my opinion, I was more inclined to believe the first option. Mei had shown control over electromagnetism while Welt showed control over gravity.

That meant that Honkai energy allowed for control over the fundamental forces of reality.

Thus, it wouldn't be very far fetched that it could extend to breaking the rules of reality as well considering the world that I'm in,

At the back of my head though, there was a worry.

What if…

It was a bit of both…

That would be disconcerting.

An Anti-Spiral-esque opponent isn't the most fun thing in the world to fight.

In that case, it would be time to send Bronya out!

Go! Super Tengen Toppa Project Bunny!!

Man… that makes me want a mecha too…

I shook my head to get rid of those thoughts. I was getting distracted.

Regardless of which case it was, it would take quite a while to overcome.

There was no point in overthinking it. The only thing that would do was cook my brain.

Given this issue, it wasn't the best use of the wheel's adaptation to try and overcome it. It was far more efficient to try adapting to other stuff instead to get stronger.

Oh well.

Time to get to the next part of training. The reason I trained for Honkai energy efficiency wasn't just for fun after all.

"Let's start with this…" I muttered.

I pointed my finger at a tree in the distance before I said.

"Dismantle"

A wave of energy coalesced in front of my finger, before it shot towards its destination.

Swoosh

In an instant, several trees were sent flying into the air, with parts of them breaking apart as it happened.

But I wasn't done yet.

I jumped high into the air. With the usage of Infinity, I kept gravity's effect on me to a minimum as my figure floated higher and higher.

Swiping my hands out, countless black lines, patterned like a jagged criss-cross, formed in the air and shot forward.

The moment they hit-

BOOM.

Shockwaves tore through the forest. Dozens of trees snapped and flew like toothpicks.

A crater, wide, jagged, and still smoking, scarred the earth below.

I hovered there for a moment, watching the dust settle.

"This… is amazing!"

My face formed a gigantic smile.

"I got it on the first try too!"

Yeah…

I know I was talking to myself, but it just happens sometimes y'know?

I'm in the mood for glazing myself right now.

Not in a weird way though.

The way I did it was simple. I merely fired Honkai energy in whatever shape I wanted it to.

Then, I would use cleave on whatever the energy makes contact with.

This was only possible due to the absurd amount of control I had over my energy now.

Calming myself down quickly with some deep breaths, I merely raised a finger in the air as a blue spiral appeared on it.

"Let's see if I can get this to work…"

—-------------------------------------

"Can I know where Mei is please?"

Those were my words as I stood before a girl carrying a stack of books who looked to be my upperclassman. I didn't know where Mei was at the moment, but given her diva status at school, I assumed that she would know.

"Ah! A-are you… t-t-talking to me, Gojo?" The girl answered with a stammer. A huge blush appeared on her face as she immediately began gesturing to her friends near her.

Behind her, her friends began squealing and gossiping almost immediately.

"It's him!"

"I can't believe that he's talking to us!"

"He's usually so quiet and so cool!!"

My polite smile twitched slightly as I heard that.

Yes, getting someone hyping you up was fun and all. But when it came from a bunch of highschool girls like this…

To say it was embarrassing would be an understatement.

Just another reason to add to the list of why I wish Mei-saka could use her railgun on the school building again.

"Yea. How do you know my name though?" I asked, trying to not sigh out as much as I can.

"Ermm…" she played with her hair a bit. "I've… heard of you?"

That was eyebrow raising. But I wasn't too interested in that right now. I had more important things to do than to find out what a bunch of kids think about me.

"So about Mei"

"Oh." The girl's tone immediately became short and clipped. "Her…"

My eyes narrowed.

"What? Is there something wrong?"

To her credit, she realised her mistake immediately as she hurriedly corrected while waving her hands. "No! No! She's at the Kendo club right now!"

"I see. Thank you."

Those were my words, I didn't even look at her when I walked off.

But I did hear something interesting though.

"Damn it… I ruined my chance with him… Why does that stupid Mei always get everything good?"

Hmm…

That's intriguing.

Are those girls just jealous of her?

If so, then it didn't mean too much. After all, Mei isn't a cash bill. She won't be loved by everybody.

I walked a tad bit slower as I tried my best to listen to their gossip from further away.

"She probably led him on. She always acts sooooo innocent…"

Ok. I think I've heard just about enough about that.

"Ahhh! My books!"

The girl and her friends shouted frantically from behind me.

Wow.

I wonder who did that?

Couldn't be me.

Why am I laughing?

Surely it was just because I had an itchy throat.

Wink wink

With my mood suddenly much better now, for no reason in particular, I went on with a spring in my step.

"Kendo Club huh? No wonder Herrscher Mei likes to use a sword…"

But as I walked, I suddenly realised something.

Kendo Club…

Sword…

Me…

White hair, blue eyes…

An excited expression appeared on my face.

I think I would fit quite well as a swordsman.

I suppose that I could even say…

That I am the storm that is approaching.
