Derrick's POV
Liam leaned back into the chair, assuming a rather relaxed position. It irked me why he would come here with the desire to feel comfortable. He crossed his legs casually, his eyes studying my expression as if holding his breath, waiting for any reaction from me.
"So," he said after a long pause, "the reason for your reluctance is because Nathan is the one all the rumors are about?"
I froze.
My fingers curled into a fist, tightening. Of course, he must have heard the rumors too. However, being faced with someone who doesn't live here but still knows about this was rather alarming for me. It made my heart thump, every part of me terrified.
What did that mean?
Despite this, I kept my gaze neutral. "If you have any more business-related questions, ask them. That's the only kind of conversation we'll be having."
