NATHAN'S POV
I found it really funny that Derrick was trying to take me away from Liam. The only conversation we had was introducing one another. I didn't know what Derrick was angry about—if he thought there was a possibility of Liam being interested in me or I in him.
Regardless, it made me feel a sort of way that wasn't entirely bad but wasn't entirely good either.
Then Kendrick came around. All he had to do was say those few words and everything just ruined. Because of Derrick, I had sat at the table with them even though I didn't belong there, and now I had to watch him talk about his children with his father-in-law. There was never a day that one would win against him.
Derrick looked surprised by what Kendrick said, but I didn't have it in me to stand around and listen to what he had to say or anything like that. I walked up the staircase and out of their sight.
