Henry turned pale when he heard his father's words. He questioned, "You don't believe me?"
"Oh no, I believe you," Benjamin shrugged as he picked up the newspaper on the table. He flipped it open and continued, "You are my son. Of course, I will believe in you—it's Jamie whom I do not trust. The claims that she has made…" He paused and lifted his gaze just enough to meet the eyes of his son. "They are simply unreasonable to me. Because believe me when I say this, Henry. I have seen women a thousand times more beautiful than her jumping in Toby's arms after the death of his wife."
"And not once did he look at them. I don't know about you, but…" he sighed heavily and added, "I think that says a lot about his character."
"That's because he did it out of revenge," cried Henry, but Benjamin didn't seem to take his words seriously. He snorted so hard that the paper in front of him moved.
