Mrs. Spencer shot her niece a warning glance, silently commanding her to deliver.
"Yes, dear," she said sweetly but her tone was sharp beneath the surface. "Tell us. Who's this important person you know? We're all ears."
Sandra's fingers twitched at her sides as her gaze darted briefly to the floor. "I—well, I mean—it's not exactly something I should just throw out."
"But you already did," Shantel pointed out smoothly, folding her arms. "So unless you were lying, you may as well finish your sentence."
Claudia glanced between them nervously, while Mrs. Spencer's posture stiffened like a queen preparing for battle.
Sandra gave a tight laugh. "You're really pressing this, aren't you?"
"I love answers. Don't you?" Shantel's tone was sugar-laced poison. "Besides, your aunt deserves to know who her last hope rests on."
"I just think we should keep some things… confidential," Sandra said evasively.
