Lesley muttered, her eyes fixed on Robert's battered body after he was flung aside by the wyvern's tail.
She looked down at her arms. Faint arcs of energy flickered beneath her skin.
'Yeah... I have the power to take that thing down.'
'I can save these people.'
But her breath caught in her throat.
'Would that be fair?'
'Why now? Why use it here—when I didn't use it for Whisper?'
'He was dying.'
'If I'd used it then... maybe he'd still be alive.'
'But I didn't.'
'I used it to save myself.'
A bitter taste filled her mouth.
'I'm selfish... aren't I?'
'So why did I even agree to help these people?'
