Chapter 132 - Life Is Always Full of Surprises

"Well, this…"

Hearing this, the group exchanged glances before continuing, "Just now, we were trying to catch a guy with wings on his back, but then Deadpool suddenly showed up too."

"Deadpool? Senpai?" Tohka blinked and then asked, "Why's that guy a senpai? Wait, you know him?"

"Yeah, of course."

Nova scratched the back of his head as he said, "Director Fury once tried to recruit him. But ever since that guy came onboard, Director Fury's mood was never good again. Later, Deadpool also felt it wasn't fun to stay at S.H.I.E.L.D., so he quit and went back to being a bounty hunter and mercenary."

"Uh… Did Nick Fury get kicked in the head by a donkey? How could he even dare to invite that guy? Actually, how was S.H.I.E.L.D. doing during that time—no, I mean, how were the agents?"

Tohka stared at Nova and the others in disbelief. She really couldn't understand where Fury got the courage to invite Deadpool. Did he really believe that money-obsessed, motor-mouthed maniac could keep secrets?

"Well… Deadpool senpai is still a great guy. At least he's very funny. You'll never feel bored around him."

But as Nova said this, his tone clearly lacked confidence—especially under Tohka's half-smiling, half-sneering stare. Still, he bit the bullet and continued, "At the very least, when there's a fight, just throw him in there. That guy can recover from all kinds of injuries. Of course, I did hear from Director Fury that while Deadpool was around, a lot of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents had to start seeing therapists."

"Uhh… That actually makes a lot of sense."

Tohka had no way to refute that. Deadpool's healing ability was the most broken thing she'd ever seen. The guy constantly found new ways to die just for fun. She'd snapped his neck several times herself and he'd always bounced right back like nothing happened. As for those agents, she thought of that Venom she'd accidentally lost… It wasn't so bad at first, but Deadpool managed to drive it completely insane.

"So why are those two still fighting? Weren't you guys trying to catch some criminal?"

Despite the long explanation, Tohka still didn't know why those two were brawling again.

"Well, that bastard—"

But before Nova could explain, Peter Parker walked in cursing under his breath. The moment he saw the group sitting together, he snapped, "Oh, you guys are here too? Ugh, that guy seriously pissed me off."

"Whatever, Miss Tohka is asking about it—go ahead and explain."

Nova immediately pushed the responsibility onto Spider-Man.

"That guy…"

After Spider-Man's explanation, Tohka finally understood what had happened. They were originally chasing a guy—possibly a mutant—when Deadpool showed up, having also been hired to capture the same guy. So naturally, the two sides clashed. In the end, Spider-Man held Deadpool off while the others captured the target. As it turned out, that person had actually shown up before—he was the one who escaped from Oscorp when they'd visited.

At that moment, Tohka thought Spider-Man should really be thanking that person—after all, it was smashing into that thing that gave him his powers.

"By the way, where's Deadpool—"

Just as she said that, a familiar voice came from nearby.

"Boss! Three orders of…"

A dumb-looking guy in a red-and-black skintight suit walked into the store, casually ordering several drinks.

"Yo, Missy, you're here too? I've got plenty of time now. Lately, luck's been crap. I finally took on a job, and it got messed up by some S.H.I.E.L.D. rookies and that damn bug boy."

Balancing a tray of food, Deadpool plopped himself down right in front of Tohka, shoving Spider-Man and Nova out of the way as he began chatting enthusiastically.

The others all went silent, clearly afraid of being recognized, and quickly gave up their seats. Even Spider-Man did the same.

"Uh, I'm not doing anything…"

Tohka stared blankly at the scene. It seemed Deadpool hadn't recognized who the others were. Then, the guy pulled up his mask halfway, revealing the scarred lower half of his face, and started devouring his burger as if no one else was there.

"You know, it's not easy for me to make a living these days. My trainees and my nemesis are all running around stirring up trouble. Business has been…"

Seeing that Tohka didn't interrupt him, Deadpool started whining about life again.

"Wait, hold it—you said your nemesis?"

Tohka wasn't about to listen to any more nonsense and asked directly. She could understand the "trainees"—probably the four sitting silently nearby—but who was his nemesis?

If she remembered right, it should be Wolverine. Could it be that Uncle Logan had shown up too?

"I mean that idiot the Daily Bugle keeps calling one of the city's Four Major Menaces—that damn Spider-Guy. That guy's mouth drives me insane! I mean, look at me! I'm handsome, charming, debonair—and he dares to mock me?!"

"Pfft—wahahaha! I'm dying!"

Watching Deadpool vent dramatically, and then seeing the expression on Peter Parker's face beside him, Tohka couldn't hold in her laughter.

The four others remained quiet to avoid being recognized, but their pained expressions said it all.

No one mocked Deadpool—not because they respected him, but because no one could out-talk him.

But Spider-Man? That chatterbox could absolutely go toe-to-toe with Deadpool in a war of words.

"Uh… why are you laughing?"

Deadpool looked at her, confused. It was the first time anyone had laughed at something he said—instead of wanting to punch him in the face. So, he actually got a little emotional.

"Ughhh! After all these years! Finally, someone who appreciates my art! Wahahahahaha—"

"Uhh..."

Tohka quickly wiped the smile off her face, stunned by his reaction.

She had a gut feeling that if she kept laughing, this guy was going to cling to her for life.
