CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR
The sunrise poured a harsh golden hue across the lush front yard of Dante's compound. The place was quiet—too quiet for such a large compound filled with wolves and workers. The guards patrolling the perimeter walked with clipped, tense steps, even the underground holdings were silent. Everyone could see their alpha's mood and no one wanted to make an noise to bring attention to themselves and become targets.
Dante sat in front of his house, his eyes glued to the screen of his phone on the table in front of him. He stared at it, unmoving, his jaw tight, his foot tapping impatiently. The screen remained stubbornly blank.
No messages. No calls. Not a damn update. And the stupid fool he sent hasn't come back since last night.
A vein ticked in his jaw.
