"She's coming to me."
Lacie wiped her eyes with the back of her hand and stood up protectively. "What do you want from me?"
"What I want?" The young man asked with a smile. "Why would I even want something from you?"
Lacie narrowed her eyes, shocked that the man didn't remember the pain he had put her through.
"I should even ask why you're acting all weird. You'll make people find us suspicious, and I wouldn't want that especially if your sister thinks something is going on between us." He shifted his eyes toward Mila, who was coming closer with each step.
Lacie pressed her trembling hands together and gulped. When the man turned his attention to her, she flinched and moved back.
"I noticed everyone was looking for you, and you had your sister worried when you left. Just wanted to help."
Lacie opened her mouth to talk, but Mila arrived, a worried look marred on her face.
