As dawn broke, a calico cat gracefully strutted along the rooftop to find its companion. After sniffing each other, they exchanged shifts.
Moscow is vast, the Romanov Kingdom is vast, and kitties are considered a scarce resource. After all, kitties willing to earn their living independently are few and far between. Among them, those willing to venture into the freezing cold and remote forested mountains are even rarer.
Under the guidance of the Church, kitties became highly sought-after pets. On average, each household could adopt one, though this was entirely voluntary and not a mandated measure.
What the Church of Truth provided was a kind of "matchmaking" event for people willing to adopt kitties. Only when both parties agreed could they sign cohabitation documents and obtain an official registration.
