Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Fruits of Labor Part 2?

Upon reaching the camp, Zyle had 1 hour and 30 mins left before night and he quickly put all his belongings except the tools he needed near the survival shelter. For the third phase, Zyle had to finish building the fence. Zyle put up 7 feet tall fencing enclosing the entire 1.5-acre space. Due to his newfound strength, speed, and the fact that he fully recovered, he was able to complete the task in 8 hours. Zyle also added a large wooden gate for wagons of any size to be able to come in and out of the encampment with an issue. The final phase was to fortify the fence's defense, Zyle sharpened the edge of all the sticks including both long and short ones. He then placed them diagonally in front of the exterior of the fence with the sharp part up, creating defensive spikes all around except the front gate.

Zyle spends the night making a total of 8 barrels, 5 with lids and 3 without. The 5 barrels with lids are to be filled with water and the 3 barrels without are to be filled with live fish. The 3 fish barrels were made slightly larger to allow the fish to swim more freely. By that time, it was already 38:30 at night and Zyle needed a good night's rest so he decided to go to bed. The next morning, Zyle grabs the wagon blueprint as he prepares to work on his next project.

5 hours had passed, and Zyle had completed his first wagon with big wooden wheels. Zyle also took the liberty to make 12 wide pails that resemble the Japanese-style bath buckets and placed them in the carriage. Zyle also placed a banana leaf to place as many Gumula flowers as can fit on it. The pails would be used to carry the clean water and fish caught. The wagon was a convenient way to travel back and forth from the camp to the river bank. Zyle went to the gate, pulling the wagon behind him as he made his way back to the river to collect.

By the time Zyle got to the river bank it was 12:00, he spent almost all of his day picking flowers and fish. When he was done, Zyle started to make his way back to the camp. Before on his way back, he remembers something very important, the last magical beast he had killed. He had forgotten to extract its beast core and its meat because he was in a hurry to make it back. Once he reached the beast, he crouch down, put his hand until he was elbow-deep through the large cut he made on its underbelly the previous day, and extracted the core. Unlike the first one he found, this beast's core was the same size as a marble. He also cut out a meet of its flesh and placed it on the wagon.

Once Zyle got to the camp, he placed the beast core in the small pocket on his backpack and then made a fire to cook the meat. After eating the meat he obtained from the beast, Zyle automatically gains a point toward strength. His strength was now 5, making him 20 % stronger than he was before. After confirming with Obby, Zyle now knew that his attack power was 20.7 and his strength was more or less equivalent to 4 men. In fact, he was slightly stronger than 4 men put together. Zyle can now run 17.2 miles per hour. This 8-year-old was now ready to construct the cabin. He gather all the necessary materials, and the blueprint then he began constructing.

Zyle worked on the construction of the cabin until nightfall and since there was plenty of fish, he was now eating 4-5 times a day. Zyle ceases the labor work at night so he doesn't attract unwanted attention with the loud banging and clinging. Instead, he spends that night practicing his sword skills in the encampment with less vocalization and he intends to do this for the following nights as well. Zyle calculated that at the rate he was going, the construction of the cabin might actually take him about 2 weeks or so. In the morning Zyle travels back in forth from the camp to the river bank and back to camp hauling the wagon full of goods on the way back to camp. Zyle took appropriate breaks in between to eat. During his trips, Zyle would analyze and pick up edible herbs and plants lying about such as mushrooms and peppers which he would crush and use as spices and side dishes for when he is eating fried fish. At night Zyle spends his time training by practicing his swordplay and then he would get a good long night's rest.

2 weeks had passed in this fashion, and Zyle was now on one of his trips to the river bank. Zyle had taken those trips over a dozen times already, now each time Zyle ventured out the trips seemed shorter and short. Going from the camp to the river and back to the camp again use to take him over 10 hours but now he was able to do so in under 2 hours. The sole purpose of this trip was to replenish his provisions because he had indeed reached the deadline and he had delivered and executed the project's task to completion. Once Zyle reaches the river bank, he places the wagon near some boulders. He placed his other belonging near a boulder as well. Zyle took down a pail from the wagon, fill it halfway with water, and began to fish using his fishing rod as he had routinely done many times before. Although had come and fished many times before, this time it was different. He felt more relaxed, knowing he wouldn't have to be in a rush anymore. His mind wasn't crowded with thoughts, instead, he felt proud and happy thinking back about what he had accomplished so far. Feeling optimistic, Zyle was now looking at the world through rose-colored glasses

" wow! just Look at those trees so green so vibrant, with such healthy roots and bountiful leaves. all though I've been here so many times, I can't help but admire this beautiful scenery. the river is so clean so clear and .... " said Zyle stopping abruptly

Zyle had stopped talking after catching a glimpse of his own reflection on the river. He stared at his barely shirtless body and he was impressed with how his physical appearance had improved. His body has become more toned and fit. He stared at the outline of what can become abs in time around his stomach. He also had packed on a bit of muscle. Overall, he looked healthier than ever before, and he - who was only 8 years old - looked almost as if he was already 10 physically. Realizing he had improved physically he wonder if his stats had increased and he quickly checked. Everything remained the same, all his system stats looked as if nothing had changed.

" but what about the stats at are not displayed in the system ? "he thought.

"Hey Obby, tell me my baseline stats," said Zyle

"Yes, Master, your baseline power is now 25 which makes you 5 times stronger than the average man and your speed has also increased, you can now run 20 miles per hour, and since your body had become stronger so did your baseline defense, you can withstand several blows from a skilled martial artist only taking a minor to no damage," said Obby.

Feeling excited Zyle had an urge, he quickly stops what he was doing and grabs his sword which he never leaves home without. He practiced swinging his sword with intent and he did it faster than he had ever done before. He swung it in every direction but then something unexpected happened.

[New Advance Technique Created and added in the new sword category of your Technique Tab]

[Advance Technique: Blade Dance ]

He quickly checks his technique tab and notices there is a third category created called Advance Technique. He quickly took to reading the technique description.

[Consume: 25 MP]

[depletes Stamina by 25 % ]

{ description: This skill can only be performed with a sword. This skill allows the practitioner to perform fanciful blade movements almost like a dance. The blade movement is so fast that it appears to be many blades slashing through the air creating a gale-like wind. It almost resembles a miniature tornado in the right conditions.}

"Sick!!!" said Zyle joyfully

Zyle checked his status and saw under the skill table they were a new sword category just like the system I said. As soon as his excitement died down, he went back to finish his fishing. It was about 11:00 am when he was done fishing and he had collected all he needed. While he was fishing he thought about going across the river to explore and now that he finished, he had made up his mind to do so. He did bring along his backpack and inside he only had his silver knife and the flashlight. Leaving his provisions on the wagon by the boulder, he took the risk. After all, he could always fish some more if they were to be stolen and eaten by forest creatures. Zyle leaped across the river in rapid succession, he took 3 huge leaps landing on a rock in the river each time. Once he made it across, he took his knife and carve a line on the side of a tree with 1 great than sign on one end and a less than on the other. He created a two-way arrow as a marker for himself in case he were to get lost. He doesn't know what to expect venturing this far, he could be chased off the trail by a strong magical beast he can't handle. Therefore marking several trees will be essential to get back on the right path. Zyle proceeded to the mark trees and move forward until he came across a cave a small open area.

"A cave? What is it doing here, did a creature make this cave ?" said Zyle as he approached it cautiously.

"It seems like it was made by creatures, it doesn't look like a natural cave" Obby responded

Zyle walked inside holding the flashlight he had just taken out of his bag and he found himself on a narrow passageway after he got in. Zyle continued walking, he felt as if he was walking on a slightly downward slope. The narrow passage leads to a much bigger opening within the cave. Which his flashlight in hand, he noticed there were several cave entrances in front of him, about 5 to be precise. Two smaller caves on both sides and a large one in the middle.

"Whatever made that entrance must be a massive creature so please be careful master," said Obby.

Don't worry Obby, I'm thinking about starting with the one on the left first, there is a good chance I won't run into that giant creature that made the one in the middle. He walked toward the first entrance after walking about 20 feet or so he came out yet another opening but this time what he saw stopped him in his tracks. Obviously, this opening was a hole from which the sunlight sun through the center of that part of the cave. The rest of the area had very little lighting making it look pitch dark and without a light source, it was hard to make out what was there and what wasn't. The main thing that shocked and made Zyle pause, was a small mountain of fruits that was left in the center which the sunlight was shining upon.

"Analyze," said Zyle
