Synopsis
[Within one hour, gain Roxy's favor. Within four days, gain Rudeus's favor. Mission Reward: Healing Magic Slot — Unlocked (2/4).] "2/4? Wait a minute! System, aren't you the 'Swordsman's Growth Guide'? What kind of weird quest is this?! Grinding for favor? What the hell is that about?" Years later: "The Great Scholar of the Holy Land of the Sword, the Incubus Sword God of the University of Magic, the Beloved Pillar of the Dragon God, the Heartbreaker who makes even the Water God weep at his name, the unattainable Baron Lover of Princess Ariel... Mr. Allen, what is your take on the slanderous rumors calling Mr. Rudeus a 'charlatan fishing for fame'?" "First of all, regarding my titles, please refrain from fabricating nonsense. I reserve the right to take legal action. As for Rudy, I have always said that in my eyes, he is like my own son. He certainly has his moments of low self-esteem and cowardice, but that only makes him more human. The very course of this era is tied to his growth. I can say with full confidence: he is a legend." The next day. "I have always said, Rudy is my son. His insecurities and cowardice? That's all on me." —The Critter Academy Tabloid.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Opening Act: On the Way to Buena Village!

Year 412, Armored Dragon Calendar

This was the year after Rudeus Greyrat had been promoted to the rank of Water Saint Magician. It was also the second year that Roxy Migurdia had stayed in Buena Village, serving as Rudeus's home tutor.

South of the Red Dragon's Spine, in the northern region of the Fitoa Territory.

Under the moonlight, the deep forest cast shifting shadows. A mountain breeze swept down from the dark ridges of the Red Dragon's Spine, slipping through the branches and into the orange glow of a campfire, caressing a youthful face. The firelight flickered and danced in his dark grey eyes.

A burning log suddenly snapped with a crisp *crack*. The owner of the eyes blinked and looked down at the map of the Asura Kingdom in his hand. In the center of his view, the northern edge of the Fitoa Territory was circled in red ink. Within the circle, two words were written: *Buena Village*.

The map's owner rested his chin on his hand. He looked young, yet his expression was one of seasoned maturity. A pair of sharp, upturned eyebrows gave his face an air of resolution.

"...About one more day's journey, and I'll be able to see Rudy."

His name was Allen, a transmigrator.

Before his death and reincarnation into this new world, he had been working overtime. He was conducting a road test for an autonomous driving system developed by the internet-based car company he worked for. Having been involved in the early stages of research and development, Allen was confident in the system's safety. So, he took out his phone to slack off and continue reading *Mushoku Tensei*—specifically, the Redundancy Chapters.

Perhaps sensing his fervent passion for reincarnation from his furrowed brow, the driving system showed a great deal of sympathy for the overworked employee. The speedometer needle shot up, hitting one hundred kilometers per hour in just three seconds. With a magnificent drift, the car entered a corner and crashed head-on into a large transport truck that had been conveniently waiting by the roadside.

When his body was discovered, his phone was embedded in his forehead. His eyes were wide open in anger; he had not gone peacefully.

He died at the age of twenty-five.

Reincarnated as an infant in the world of *Mushoku Tensei*, nine years had now passed. Coincidentally, his name in this world was the same as in his previous life—Allen. Of course, it wasn't spoken in his native tongue but in the "Human Tongue" of this world. Thanks to its sentence structure, which was similar to his first language, he mastered it quickly, unhindered by his mother tongue.

He pinched the bridge of his nose, a look of resignation on his face.

"It's a shame. I was only four when Rudy was born. I couldn't travel all the way to Buena Village to take part in the first 'major event' of the main story."

As soon as he finished speaking, lines of smoke-like text materialized before his face. Allen had confirmed many times that this text didn't appear on his retinas but was a phantom image observed directly by his soul, invisible to others.

**[Transmigration Guide for Mushoku Tensei]**

**[The host must participate in the 'major events' of the Mushoku Tensei world, leaving your mark in the torrent of this new era and in the eyes of the main and supporting characters.]**

**[Based on Rudeus Greyrat's growth trajectory (Childhood → Youthful Tutor Period → Adolescence → Adulthood), you must achieve a participation score of 60 out of 100 in each stage to pass. Failure to meet the deadline will result in the loss of your status as the Guide's host. The consequences are unknown, but it is highly likely you will be erased by the rejection of time and space.]**

Allen's lip twitched as he looked at the system panel. When he first realized he had been reincarnated, he was thrilled. Although his death had been tragic, being reborn was a great blessing. Having a mother was a wonderful thing, wasn't it? More importantly, being in another world meant no more waking up with dark circles under his eyes to clock in for work.

Then, during his infancy, before his vision had even fully developed and he couldn't even see his own mother's face clearly, his soul had "seen" his new benefactor in this world—the system.

On the panel, the word "ERASED" was even bolded, underlined, and rendered in a menacing red font.

*How heartwarming.*

Allen pushed the thought from his mind and scanned down the panel:

**[Current Stage: Childhood. Cumulative Participation Score: 2 points.]**

**[Available Growth Paths:]**

**[Path of the Magician (Abandoned): Gain the Laplace Factor. Increases mana capacity, mana affinity, and doubles magic comprehension.]**

**[Gift: A beautiful head of green hair. Cost: The body cannot be enveloped in Touki (Battle Aura).]**

**[Path of the Sword (Chosen): Gain the Dragon God Orsted's Dragon Saint Touki nucleus. Reduces mana consumption for converting into Touki, increases Touki affinity, and doubles sword mastery comprehension.]**

**[Gift: A sturdy and well-built physique. Cost: Mana recovery rate is equivalent to Orsted's.]**

**[Current Swordsmanship Style Ranks (Based on the average skill of all swordsmen within the world's ranking system. The system will automatically update if the host's skill improves to within 10% of the next rank's average):]**

**[Sword God Style: Intermediate.]**

**[Water God Style: Advanced.]**

**[North God Style: Intermediate.]**

Over the past nine years, Allen had seen this system panel thousands of times. Yet, as he looked at the words "a beautiful head of green hair" and "a sturdy and well-built physique," an image involuntarily formed in his mind:

A river god, his "Guide," emerges from murky waters. In its left hand, it holds a flamboyant, green-haired pretty boy. In its right, a muscular, dark-skinned brute. It smiles and asks the host, "Which of these did you drop?"

Allen felt helpless.

As for why he chose the Path of the Sword and abandoned the Laplace Factor, which would have made him a second Rudeus?

First, in the world of *Mushoku Tensei*, swordsmen were generally stronger. And from a personal standpoint, Allen preferred the visceral, blade-to-flesh combat of swordsmanship.

Second, the Dragon God's Dragon Saint Touki was just too good to pass up. Orsted was the pinnacle of power seen in the main story. There was no reason to choose the Laplace Factor.

It definitely wasn't because the phrase "a beautiful head of green hair" had influenced his rational judgment.

"According to the original story, Roxy is supposed to leave Buena Village this year. I've been delayed for a few months... I hope I can still make it in time to meet her."

Back in the winter of Year 411, Allen had decided to head for Buena Village. Since he had missed the major event of Rudeus's birth, he was determined to be there for Rudy's first meeting with Roxy. Despite his young age, he had made ample preparations to leave his old environment and participate in the world's events.

However, unforeseen circumstances had caused him to wander the foothills of the Red Dragon's Spine for several months, only arriving near Buena Village in the late spring of Year 412.

"If I miss this chance too, my score for the Childhood period will likely depend on Sylphie, Rudy, and his family. That's risky... Roxy is just too important to the story."

Allen waved his hand, dismissing the smoky text, and smoothed down a knotted lock of hair at his temple. He placed a hand on his sword and rose to his feet.

The firelight illuminated his figure. Though only nine, he already stood 160 centimeters tall. His well-proportioned body filled out the tattered swordsman's uniform, making it look sharp despite the damage. He paid no mind to the "gift" the system had bestowed upon him, instead squinting and turning his head to the side.

Beyond the campfire's glow, the thick darkness stirred with the wind. Four figures emerged from the shadows and stepped into the light.
