Chapter 8: Ride of Secrets
When Meera returned home that evening, her face was pale, her eyes distant. Kabir, who had been waiting restlessly in the living room, stood up the moment she entered.
> Kabir: "What happened, Meera? You look upset."
Meera's lips trembled. She dropped her bag and whispered:
> Meera: "Kabir… please don't do anything to him. I promise I won't meet him again."
Kabir's eyes narrowed slightly.
> Kabir: "Him?"
> Meera (quickly): "Please… just trust me. Don't ask. I don't want any drama. I just want peace."
He looked at her for a long moment. Then nodded.
> Kabir: "Fine. Just... don't lie to me."

The Next Day
Ayaan came to drop Meera at college as usual. Meera stepped out of the car, looking around.
But to her surprise—there was no sign of Ansh.
No messages. No calls. No sudden pull on her wrist.
The day passed quietly.
And then, more days passed.
Something started to change. Meera wasn't crying every night. She was calmer. She would talk to Kabir a little, sit longer at breakfast, and even smiled sometimes. Kabir noticed it all—her soft glances, her quiet company—and a small hope started growing in his heart.
He would never hurt her. Not again. Not ever.

One Week Later – Outside College
Meera was walking toward the entrance when she heard a familiar voice.
> Ansh: "Meera!"
She stopped in shock.
> Ansh (rushing to her): "You've disappeared again! I couldn't stop thinking about you. Meera, I love you. I always have. Leave him. He forced you into marriage, didn't he?"
Meera froze.
> Meera: "Ansh, stop. Please. Don't say another word."
> Ansh: "Why? You still love me, don't you?"
She looked down, then up at him with steady eyes.
> Meera: "I love my husband. I don't want anything to do with the past. Please don't meet me again. Kabir won't spare you."
Unknown to her, Ayaan had seen and heard everything from the car.
After the class, as Meera walked back, Ayaan came to her with a serious face.
> Ayaan: "Bhabhi... I saw what happened."
Meera panicked.
> Meera: "Ayaan, please! Don't tell Kabir. I didn't mean to talk to him—he just appeared."
Ayaan sighed, then gave her a soft look.
> Ayaan: "Okay. I won't. But promise me… you won't meet him again."
> Meera: "I promise."

Meanwhile…
Far away, in the shadows, Darko—Kabir's secret bodyguard—had watched everything. Hidden in the crowd, unnoticed.
And that night, Kabir received a full report.
His smile faded slowly as he read it.
He didn't say a word. Just closed the file… and made a decision.

Next Morning – Dining Table
Kabir sat down beside Meera and gave her a cheerful smile.
> Kabir: "Good morning, cutie."
Meera nodded, a little confused by his extra warmth.
Then Kabir cleared his throat and addressed everyone.
> Kabir: "From today, I'll be dropping Meera to college myself. I've been too busy lately… but I want to spend some time with my wife."
Everyone looked surprised—including Meera.
> Meera (softly): "You? Really?"
> Kabir: "Yes. Got a problem?"
> Meera: "…No."
---
Outside – Oberoi Mansion Driveway
Meera stepped out and expected to see the car. But instead—Kabir stood beside a sleek black bike.
> Meera: "What is this?"
> Kabir (grinning): "We're going on a bike today."
> Meera: "Kabir… seriously?"
> Kabir: "Come on. It'll be fun. Sit."
She sighed but climbed on. Kabir smirked.
> Kabir: "Hold me tightly. I don't want you falling."
> Meera (firmly): "No thanks."
But as soon as Kabir started the bike with a sudden roar, Meera squealed and grabbed onto him tightly.
Kabir chuckled.
> Kabir: "Told you so."

On the Way
The cool morning air rushed past them. Meera stared at the road but felt Kabir's steady presence in front of her.
He turned slightly and looked at her over his shoulder.
> Kabir: "You okay?"
> Meera (quietly): "Yeah. I'm fine."
But inside her chest, her heart beat louder than the engine.
