Chapter 1: This Wedding Is Over

Samantha's POV

I couldn't wait to be a bride as I snuck out of her bridal shower party to check up on my husband-to-be. As I walked closer to his hotel room, I noticed an unusual silence on the floor, and I could tell that my fiancé's friends had left.

I approached his room with my face beaming with a smile. I didn't bother knocking since I knew there was nobody with him.

As I twisted the doorknob, I could hear moans coming from the room. My happy face turned pale, and my legs were rooted to the spot. I couldn't believe my ears and decided to ignore the sound.

'What is that?' I pondered as I found myself unable to walk away. I stumbled into the room without hesitation. My breath became hotter than usual due to the anger I was suppressing.

"Samantha!" A fragile voice panicked as she picked up her scattered dress inside Marco's (Samantha's fiancé) hotel room. 'That bitch!' I widened my eyes in shock—Susan, one of my friends that I trusted. She knew how much he meant to me.

"How could you?" My voice trembled in fury and disbelief. The position they were in almost made me lose my mind; I never thought I would witness such a sight in my whole life.

"Susie? What the heck is going on here, Marco!" I fired, not believing my eyes, as if that would make me unseen by their stupid act. "I can explain my love." James ran towards me, but I dodged him.

"Don't touch me, you jerk!" I flared. I still couldn't bring myself to look at him. The sight before me felt surreal— Marco, my fiancé, the man I have loved my whole life. I've loved him since we were in elementary school and dated him for years.

I never thought a day like this would come: seeing him naked with my friend the night before my wedding.

"Susan! You bitch! How could you sleep with my fiancé? Have you got no shame, you slut? I trusted you." I couldn't control my anger as I tried to battle with my sanity.

"How dare you?! I've loved you my whole life. How could you do this to me, Marco?" I slapped him as he walked closer to me. "She seduced me… I swear it's not what you think."

"What?"

"She seduced me— I was drunk; I didn't even know how I got here. Please trust me, Samantha!" He explained as he went on his knees. "What are you talking about… Don't even try to—" I was saying, but he cut in.

"You can check the hallway footage. I was drunk… I didn't cheat on you with her, please believe me," he cried, and I didn't know how to react to the situation again.

I've known him since we were kids, and Marco has never lied; he was the cool and gentle guy in school then. Seeing how he was pleading to prove his innocence, I couldn't react harshly. But my heart was still filled with doubts; I couldn't bring myself to trust him after what I saw.

'Drunk?' I doubt that, but I was helpless. I didn't want to lose our years of friendship and romance even though I would be lying to myself.

"Fine… I won't tell anyone about this whole thing, but that wedding isn't happening again!" I said as tears rolled down my cheeks, trying to exit the room, but he stopped me by hugging me from behind.

"I will die if you leave me, Samantha— please don't cancel the wedding. I've lived for this day all my life."

"What can I do? I can't trust you anymore, Marco," I sobbed as I faced him. "I will earn your trust every day if that will make you believe in me again… But please don't leave me; I can't live without you."

I stared at him blankly for a while before saying, "So this won't happen again?"

"It won't happen again; I don't want to lose you, Samantha." He fell on his knees as tears streamed down his face.

My heart began to soften seeing how sorry he was. I decided to believe him. 'Should I just follow my heart?' I mulled it over in my head.

The next day,

I was sitting in front of the dressing mirror with a lady standing in front of me to fix my makeup.

Yes, it was my wedding day. My face that was supposed to be glowing with excitement was filled with doubts and worry as the scene last night replayed in my head. Even though I've decided to believe him, I couldn't stop thinking about it.

I couldn't bring myself to tell anyone; even my dad would not believe it happened because he was known for his gentlemanly behavior.

"It's your day, bestie!" My best friend, Gabriella, jolted me out of my thoughts as she screamed from behind. "Yeah," I nodded hurriedly, with a smile.

"I am so excited; I can't believe this is happening right now. We started planning a few days ago, and it's already happening... It's unbelievable, Gabby!" I gasped, making sure Gabriella didn't notice anything because she might kill Macro if she finds out...

"Same here…. My friend is getting married!" We both giggled at each other. "Wait, does this mean you are no longer single?" Gabriella asked funnily.

"Yes! I am now a Mrs., but not yet; after 4 hours, I will claim that." I muttered with a worried smile. "If anything happens, tell me immediately; I have a lot of marriage tips." Gabriella cleared her throat proudly, and I snorted.

"And that is coming from someone that refuses to fall in love?" I chuckled loudly. "I don't believe in such things. I think being single is great, and that's the new trend," she winked at me.

"Maybe that would be nice for me as well." The words slipped out of my mouth without realizing it. "What do you mean?" Gabriella looked confused. "Nothing—never mind." I shook my head immediately.

"Okay, we should get ready to go into the wedding hall." Gabriella. "Of course," I forced a smile as I stood up with a hesitant step.

We walked towards the extravagant hall, and the preparation was so smooth. Then, I could see as my father walked towards me with a proud smile.

'He must be so happy. His daughter is getting married. I mulled those words in my head, knowing I might not get the chance to see him smile that much again. I stopped thinking of backing out even though my doubts were still valid.

"Let's go in," he said as he elbowed his arm for me. "Are you happy, Dad?" I asked as I controlled my tears. "Of course, these tears are tears of joy. Marco is a good kid. He will take care of my daughter."

"Of course," I muttered, seeing how he earned my father's trust. 'I should give it a try,' I thought.

I walked down the aisle with my father, and I could see Marco's face glowing with excitement while I couldn't even bring myself to smile.

He said his vows, and then it was my turn to say the magic words, 'Yes, I do.' I couldn't bring myself to say it.

"What's going on?" Gabriella, who was my maid of honor, whispered from behind, but I didn't reply because I wasn't at ease myself. My heart raced abnormally as I found it hard to breathe. I couldn't make the scared decision immediately because I knew I would be in that bondage after saying those words.

People started murmuring inside the hall. I looked in my father's eyes, and I could see how worried he was. "Samantha, say it," Marco mumbled, but I didn't spare him a glance.

My brain stopped working for a while, but seeing how my father was focused and worried about me, I couldn't bring myself to disappoint him.

'For my father,' I mulled with determination in my head.

"Ye— stop!" I wanted to talk, but a baritone voice cut in angrily from the entrance.

"This wedding is over!" The man whose face I was yet to see announced.
