Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 City

"Isn't it nighttime? Why is it so bright?" Tanjiro seemed a bit unaccustomed to and constrained by the brightly lit area.

Seeing Tanjiro and Nezuko, both little ones, looking utterly bewildered and at a loss, Fang Hao felt a sense of responsibility welling up within him. These two children are now his to look after. Especially Nezuko (Tanjiro: ?), a girl needs to protect herself when she's out; there are too many bad guys out there, like a certain Hao.

Having gone through the baptism of the 21st century, what was such a small scene to Fang Hao? Forget the surging crowds; with two Demon Slayer Corps members and a Nezuko, their physical prowess meant there was nowhere they couldn't go.

In no time, he led the "There are so many people here, how do we walk?" Tanjiro and the "Mmph" Nezuko to the sidewalk, where pedestrians were relatively sparse, allowing them to find their footing.

"We finally made it out. I thought I'd never escape the crowd. Big cities are terrifying," Tanjiro said, wiping the sweat from his forehead, a hint of lingering fear in his voice.

"Mmph mmph," Nezuko nodded from the side, agreeing with her brother's assessment; big cities were indeed too terrifying.

Fang Hao massaged his forehead: "Your reaction is a bit too exaggerated, isn't it? Like Granny Liu visiting the Grand View Garden?"

"Granny Liu?" Tanjiro asked, somewhat puzzled.

"Uh, simply put, it's a scene from a famous Chinese classic…" Fang Hao briefly summarized the plot of Granny Liu's visit to the Grand View Garden in "Dream of the Red Chamber." Of course, he couldn't recall the specific details, but he still remembered a few jokes Granny Liu told during dinner.

Although Fang Hao wasn't particularly fond of "Dream of the Red Chamber," its value was undeniable, so he felt a great sense of accomplishment in spreading this knowledge to his foreign friends, leaving Tanjiro and Nezuko completely dumbfounded.

"Just listen to the story, and after I finish, you can start saying 'Sugoi!'" That's what Fang Hao thought.

As he was telling the story, Tanjiro's nose suddenly twitched, and a smile appeared on his face.

Fang Hao asked doubtfully, "Tanjiro, what's wrong? Did you smell something?"

"Yes, I just smelled food. It's alright, Fang Jun, just keep telling the story."

"No, the story can be told anytime; food must be eaten now." Fang Hao raised his hand in a stopping gesture, saying sternly, "A certain King once said that hunger is a great enemy. How can one go to the battlefield without a full stomach? Our mission is very important now, so we must eat our fill even more."

"Fang Jun knows so much."

Tanjiro's sincere tone made Fang Hao quite embarrassed. Old otaku are just that thin-skinned. Thank you, Idiot-Hair King, I can still show off thanks to you after transmigrating. When I transmigrate to type-moon, I definitely… I like Rin, so it's fine, White Saber is also good.

While Fang Hao was fantasizing, Tanjiro led him to a noodle shop.

"Dumbfounded." Fang Hao knew Tanjiro's nose was good, but he didn't expect it to be this ridiculous. They must have walked several hundred meters!

"No matter how many times I see your nose, I still find it ridiculous."

"Mine is just about the same as an average person's," Tanjiro said, touching his nose bashfully.

Saying that is like saying "anyone can do it," and then most people unknowingly lose their hands.

"Boss, three servings, no, two bowls of noodles. I want green onions and cilantro in mine."

"Me too," Tanjiro also said.

Once the noodles arrived, the two happily began to eat. Eating and sleeping truly bring joy! Among the three people—no, two people and one demon—who wasn't eating? Fang Hao and Tanjiro didn't know either.
