"Place her on the channel."
Whirring sounds buzzed about a room filled with chemicals and machinery.
"Replace her legs with the biomechanical system engine."
"Now inject the fluid."
All I felt was the pain of the needle's prick, before my mind went blank.
"Ana, don't run into the thicket. It's dangerous."
A man called to me. Who am I?
Am I Ana? I thought as I continued running playfully.
Suddenly a hand pulled me off the ground with bone crushing grip, forcing me to scream.
"Noooo!!! Not our daughter. Let her go."
A woman who stood behind the man screamed out and rushed to take me from my captor.
The man who had called me Ana stood a while off with a surprised and terrified look in his eyes.
"What are you doing Rowland? Are you going to let them take our daughter for that godforsaken experiment?"
The person who grabbed me whipped the woman across her face with his hand causing her to hit the ground hard.
Rowland ran to her and after confirming her safety stood to square up the man, but he just stood clenching his fist.
My captor, without uttering a word, turned and left.
Rowland tried speaking, but the words choked him and he just turned his head as tears trickled down his cheeks.
I was taken somewhere with various jars and was placed on a chair.
A man appeared from around a corner.
"She's a candidate host? We need her essence to build the next generation. Drain her."
The man then walked away, at the same time my captor walked up to me and pulled out a tube with a huge needle.
He pierced my head straight through.
The pain was enough to kill and slowly my mind faded to nothing.
…
Where was this?
I looked around taking in the enchanting sight of a waterfall before me.
"William! I've made dinner, come home with me, let's eat and maybe try and have our first child tonight."
I turned to see who was talking, and she was beautiful.
My heart skipped a beat and I could feel a strong desire for her, something I haven't felt before.
But who was she? Who is William?
Is it me?
"Will! Will! William! Stop daydreaming and come."
She said pulling me from my thoughts.
I followed.
"You're awfully silent today Will, did something happen?"
"No. Just thinking about our future together."
The voice sounded masculine, am I a man?
Maybe I am. I don't know.
Suddenly gunshots flew through the air and the sound made us duck down in fear.
Another rang through this time it hit her. What is her name? I don't know, I've forgotten.
*Roslyn*. A voice in my head said.
"Roslyn!! No."
Her body was already devoid of soul, her pupils empty of life. I lifted her slightly onto my lap as I cried over her.
"Candidate 2 secured. With this, the next candidate will be a superior power to trample the other nations."
I turned in rage but I was injected with something by some others who came up behind me
I wanted to turn but I was held steady and firm.
Slowly I felt the draw of the needle.
A scream escaped my lips as I felt the very life blood in my heart get drawn out of me.
When done, they left me on the floor, hardly any blood pooled up on the ground.
I could no longer feel the beating of my heart. Soon only silence and darkness remained.
…
"Let me go. Stop it, stop it."
I shouted and kicked, as two masked men held me with my hands tied behind me and placed me on a chair with two canisters on each arms rest.
Another man came up and untied me..
"Thank you. Now I must go back to help my parents."
"No young child, you're the chosen one. You will fulfill your duty in overthrowing foreign opposition and you have no place to return to. We killed your parents. I'm telling you this because you won't remember anything when I'm done."
The men returned and placed my hands firmly on the arms rests before the canisters injected a blue liquid in my arms causing pain to burn through me
Slowly my body stretched and warped, scales enveloped me and I could taste the fire in my throat.
Wings burst out from my back and stretched pushing the men to the ground.
With a single flap, I was heaps above the ground and the urge to burn it all down was eating at me
I sprayed fire over the place and flew away at a steady pace towards my home
That's when I saw it, smoke rising from the place I once called home. All around smoldered with burnt ashes
The emotional imbalance caused me to stagger mid flight and crash hard into a group of trees.
…
Where am I? I thought to myself
Who am I? I asked myself again this time in a different body
What's my name?
William, Ana, Tristan, Pamela, Tiana, Fredrick....
So many names flooded in. So many loves flashed past.
…..
"Stabilize her quickly, she's going into a seizure."
I shook violently in the chair I was tied to, then finally I opened my eyes.
"It worked. The final candidate is ready. Do you remember your mission? You're a hero created to slay the evil dark dragon that resurrects from its ashes. Only you can do it, so you let us make you stronger. Do you remember?"
A stout, short man in all white robes said to me. He seemed familiar, very familiar , as if he were someone I've seen him many times before.
This place also, I've been here. I know here.
But where is here? And who am I?
"Argggggghhh!!!!"
I screamed as voices and emotions rushed instantly into my mind.
"Avenge us. Please. They killed my wife. They murdered my family. They killed my son. They slaughtered my village…"
So many pleading voices scrambled my brains.
I broke out a piece of the chair and stabbed it through the doctor's jaw and pushed it through the roof of his skull, rendering him dead.
People armed with weapons rushed in trying to surround me.
I speedily blitzed one of them leaving only splattering blood.
Why was I so fast and strong?
*Bang! Bang!
Two shots hit me but were completely ineffective.
I rushed to the shooter and pushed him away with one hand, while grabbing his hands that clasped his gun together with my other hand, separating him from his upper limbs and smashed his body into a nearby wall.
Shots began to fly through in a crescendo, before finally settling into a diminuendo and at last silence
The whole facility was falling apart and I struggled to make an escape.
My body was damaged, but I felt no pain.
I limped because of an uneven leg that was shot through by anti tank rounds.
*Flap!! Flap!!
The heavy beating sounds of wings drew close to me.
I looked up and just above me was a creature I couldn't quite make out. I stopped looking up as a wave of dizziness flooded in.
Memories tried flooding in, but I refused to let them. I could not handle it anymore.
"A dragon." I said softly.
"I remember, I was a dragon once."
Argggggghhh!!
A blast of pain ran through my head. Words being spoken, cries. Everything was becoming too much
I was about taking another step forward but I lost balance and almost crashed hard against the barren snow, but was caught by the flying creature which had landed before me to break my fall.
Maybe it wasn't the dragon I had been. A voice warning me about the dragon came to my memories
"Those people said something about a dragon. Are you here to help them?"
I asked in the confusion caused by the influx of memories, my voice came out weak.
The beast shook its head.
I smiled.
"So you came for me."
I managed to voice out before closing my eyes softly, my body growing limp as I rested my entirety on the being that held me.
Warmth.
Everything was over now.
