Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 8:A Day Off with the Wolf

Fang blinked sleepily, then mumbled, "I'll tell you next time…" and turned over, already half-asleep.

Syaoran stared at her, completely frozen.

"…What?"

He leaned in closer, waving a hand in front of her face — but she was fast asleep.

"I asked you something serious, and you just… slept?" he muttered under his breath, glaring at her peacefully sleeping face.

Pointing his finger at her dramatically, he whispered, "Just wait. I'll deal with you next time."

Still grumbling, he flopped down beside her and drifted off to sleep.

---

The next morning, golden light streamed through the windows.

Fang woke first, yawning softly. She turned to her side and smiled — Syaoran was still sound asleep, hair messy, one arm slung across the blanket.

She tiptoed out of the room and headed straight to the kitchen.

By the time the smell of grilled meat filled the house, Syaoran stirred.

Sniff. Sniff.

His eyes shot open.

He bolted out of bed and rushed into the kitchen — only to stop abruptly at the sight of the breakfast spread.

His wolf instincts kicked in, but he took a deep breath, trying to compose himself.

"What are you doing here?" he asked suspiciously. "Don't you have sch—?"

Fang smiled sweetly. "It's school, and it's a holiday today."

Syaoran pouted instantly. "Tch. I knew that…"

She giggled and handed him a plate.

They sat down to eat together, the quiet morning filled with warm clinks of dishes and soft laughter.

Halfway through breakfast, Fang looked up. "Hey… will you come out with me today?"

Syaoran blinked. "Why? What's going on?"

She rested her chin in her palm. "It's my day off, and I feel like going out. Are you coming or not?"

He narrowed his eyes. "You're not going to that… bank again, are you?"

Fang burst into laughter. "No, not the bank!"

He looked at her skeptically, still chewing.

"Then where?"

"I'm going to eat meat. Cake. Ice cream. Maybe some window shopping…" She grinned. "I'll decide once I get there."

As she turned to pick up a dish—

Whoosh!

A gust of wind swept past her.

She turned.

There he was, already outside the house, arms crossed, expression serious.

He jerked his thumb toward her room.

"Go get ready."

Fang's eyes sparkled.

She shot him a big smile.

"Okay!"
