Chapter 2 - No One is Coming

Chapter 2: No One Is Coming — But We Must Survive

It was the beginning of the year 2030.

Outside our classroom, we heard terrifying screams. The sound of zombies filled the air.

In the college, zombies were everywhere. Students and teachers didn't dare open the doors. Outside, the undead roamed freely. No one knew what these creatures were, or where they had come from. Were they really zombies? Were they monsters?

Cheng Kung stood near the door, alert and calm. He had bullied some students in the past, but now he showed courage. He was trying to protect everyone.

"Don't worry," Cheng Kung said. "The police will come to save us."

He was the college's football sports champion — strong, confident, and brave. He stood in front of the class, taking charge, not hiding like others. Many students looked up to him, especially now, when fear surrounded us all.

Beside him stood Jia Li, his girlfriend. She used to be a formal teacher, kind and helpful, especially to students with low grades. She had helped me once when Cheng Kung bullied me in the past. She always encouraged weak students to improve.

But someone in the classroom spoke with worry, "Even if we're safe for now, how long can we stay here without food or water?"

Hui Ying, another student who often sided with Cheng Kung during teasing, looked confident.

"Don't worry. My father will definitely send support to rescue us."

"Yes," Cheng Kung agreed. "She's right. We just need to stay calm and wait for help."

The students believed him. They trusted Cheng Kung because he was strong, and he had already helped some students survive during the first zombie attacks. He wasn't just a champion on the field anymore — now, he was becoming a leader.

Still, outside the classroom, we heard terrible sounds. Screams. Crashing. Monsters.

I sat silently in the room, but my heart wasn't calm.

I didn't want to wait.

I kept thinking about my family — about my mother and my younger sister.

Yu Ming, my sister, is only one year younger than me. She's smart, talented in both reading and sports. She's studying in another college nearby. I didn't know if she was safe. I couldn't sit here doing nothing. I needed to go. I needed to find her.

All I ever wanted was to graduate, get a job, and live a peaceful life with my mother and sister. But now everything was falling apart.

What was happening to the world?

I looked at the door. It was locked. We were safe — for now. But I couldn't wait here.

I had to go out there.

I had to find my sister
