Chapter 47 - Episode 44 When Heaven Burns

THE DEVIL'S BRIDE

Episode 44: When Heaven Burns

By Rapwizzy Debaron

Wings of silver fire spread wide behind Evelyn.

For a moment, the battlefield was silent — stunned.

Kael stared, chest rising and falling. "You… you've awakened."

Lucien's gaze burned with ancient pain. "No. She's evolving."

The wind howled. The earth split.

From the bones of forgotten angels, Seraphina's army rose again—deformed, cruel, and hungry for vengeance.

At the center of it all, Seraphina laughed, crimson lightning swirling around her. "So the bride finally remembers her name."

Evelyn's eyes glowed. "And you will remember mine."

---

Kael stepped forward. "We hold the front."

Lucien nodded, summoning a second blade from the shadows. "I'll break their lines."

Evelyn floated above them, radiant and terrifying.

"I'll find her heart."

She dove.

---

What followed could never be called a battle.

It was a reckoning.

Kael fought like a man possessed, his blade dancing between time and space, slicing through enemies that screamed heretical curses.

Lucien vanished and reappeared, slashing through corrupted wings and broken halos, never missing a step.

And Evelyn?

She moved like wrath.

Where she flew, stars fell.

Where she landed, fire bloomed.

Her scream shattered the sky as she descended toward Seraphina.

---

Seraphina raised her staff, summoning the chained boy forward.

"Stop her!" she commanded.

But the boy's chains began to melt.

His eyes met Evelyn's mid-air—and something shifted.

Recognition.

Not of fear, but of love.

"Evelyn?" he whispered.

"Your name," she called, "Tell me your name!"

But the chains yanked him back.

Seraphina snarled. "He belongs to me!"

"NO!" Evelyn screamed.

And everything exploded into light.

---

When the smoke cleared, Evelyn knelt in a crater of flame.

Lucien was on one knee, bleeding.

Kael limped forward, sword cracked, eyes wide. "Evelyn… what did you do?"

Seraphina was gone.

But so was the boy.

The chains. The mountain. The magic. All… gone.

All that remained was a burning symbol etched in the earth:

A name.

"Aleir."

Evelyn gasped. "That's his name… Aleir."

Lucien's face paled. "Then he's not just a boy. He's—"

Evelyn looked up, voice trembling.

"He's the one I died for… before Kael."

---

To be continued…

The past is deeper than anyone thought.

What if Evelyn's greatest love isn't the devil… or the knight?
