Kaelen's back was rigid as he strode ahead of me, each footfall like a countdown to my execution. My mind raced. Did he know? Had Lilith already broken her word minutes after giving it?
The silence between us stretched thin and dangerous as we navigated the hallways. Pack members scattered at the sight of Kaelen's thunderous expression, his Alpha aura crackling with barely contained rage.
When we reached his room, he flung the door open with such force it slammed against the wall.
"Get in," he commanded, his voice deceptively quiet.
I stepped inside, my wolf pacing anxiously beneath my skin. Kaelen closed the door and turned to face me, arms crossed over his chest.
"What happened with the bartender?" he demanded.
