Chapter 16 - Chapter 15 – The Ones Who Start Watching

Emir didn't sleep that night. Not because of fear.Because of notifications.

His phone was buzzing like it owed him an explanation.

— "We just asked a question," he muttered.

"Yes," the voice said, "and now people are remembering how to think. That's the most dangerous thing you can do in public."

By morning, the post had gone from student forums to mainstream platforms.Anonymous replies flooded in.

"This made me call my grandmother. She cried when I asked."

"I used to think history didn't matter. Now I think I just didn't want it to."

"What the hell is 'The Circle' and how do I join?"

But mixed among them were... other responses.

"Traitors trying to rewrite our country again."

"This smells like foreign influence."

"Shut it down. Fast."

— "They're scared," Emir said.

"Yes. Because they sense what you don't yet believe."

— "Which is?"

"You're not just remembering. You're reminding. And that makes them sweat."

Later that day, someone followed him.Not subtle.A man in a leather jacket with military posture and a discount watch.

Classic.

Emir didn't confront him.He didn't need to.

But he did take the long way home.Twice.

And when he got to his building,he pretended to drop his keys—just to give the guy a good look at his face.

"Paranoia looks good on you," the voice noted."Very mid-1920s of you."

— "Funny."

"I'm just saying, it's been a while since I had a target on my back."

— "You're enjoying this."

"I'm just glad you're not boring anymore."

That night, his phone buzzed again.

A message from an unknown number.

"History is not yours to resurrect.Let it rest."

No name. No threat.Just a digital whisper.

He showed it to no one.

Just stared at it for a while. Then deleted it.

But not before typing a reply—one he never sent:

"History doesn't rest. It remembers."

"They've noticed you," the voice said.

— "I know."

"What will you do now?"

Emir closed his eyes.

The city buzzed outside like a warning.

— "Exactly what I was doing before."

"Good."

"Now we begin."
