Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: The Fall of Death’s Throne

Location: The Beyond-Realm – Seat of the Endless

When a god dies, the stars blink.

When Death falls, eternity shudders.

And so it was whispered, across every realm, every echo, every flickering timeline:

"Death is missing."

The Empty Throne

After the Hallows shattered, something ancient broke loose.

The balance that Death once maintained cracked, and souls began to drift without guidance.

Ghosts walked freely. Undying tyrants rose again.

The multiverse trembled under an eternal dusk, where none could die—but none could live fully either.

And at the center of it all stood the Empty Throne of Death, on the Isle of the Final Light.

There had only ever been one who dared enter it willingly:

Harry Potter—the Boy Who Died and Returned.

But now it was not he who stood before the Throne.

It was Liana.

And Death was waiting.

The Final Gate

Death was not cruel.

Death was tired.

She stood in robes woven from the edge of the first shadow, her eyes glowing with a sorrow older than stars.

"Your father would not take the throne," she said softly.

"Will you?"

Liana hesitated. "Why me?"

"Because you understand what he could not:

That true guardianship is not about saving lives…

It's about honoring endings."

Death revealed the truth:

The Hallows had been her experiment—ways to teach mortals respect, not defiance. But their corruption, spread across time, had turned endings into weapons.

Now, Death needed not a tool.

She needed a heir.

A Guardian of the Threshold.

One who could balance rebirth and rest. One who could keep life sacred, and death meaningful.

The Choice

Liana stepped forward.

She thought of her mother, Natasha, who had sacrificed everything for others.

She thought of Harry, who had died to save the world, and come back to protect it again.

She thought of the Forsaken, who only wanted what had been denied.

"If I take this throne… I will never walk among them again."

Death nodded. "But you will never walk alone."

The souls of the noble dead rose beside the throne:

Remus and Tonks, smiling quietly.

Sirius, still rebellious even in rest.

Fred, winking with mischief.

Natasha, arms crossed, proud.

The Ancient One, nodding in silent approval.

Jean Grey, phoenix fire in her gaze.

Kratos, standing tall and still.

They would stand as her honor guard.

Together, they would protect the boundary of what was and what must be.

Liana sat upon the throne.

The stars held their breath.

"I am Liana Romanova-Potter. Daughter of Guardians.

Keeper of the Hallows.

And I accept the burden of the End."

The Veil shimmered—and from it bloomed a new light.

Not death.

Not life.

But peace.

The End that is a Beginning

Harry stood on the Isle's shore.

He felt the shift.

Felt his daughter ascend.

And for the first time since the Prophecy, he wept—not from pain, but from relief.

Behind him, Hogwarts glowed like dawn.

The dead now slept in peace.

The living could dream again.

And Death… finally had hope.
