The curtains blew in melody to the howling wind that flew into the room, the moon was a bit dim and the clouds were thick, disturbing moaning sounds came from Damien as he kept on turning and rolling on the bed, this were his normal weird dreams, or more of nightmares, he kept on muttering, "leave me, go away, leave me, go away" just then he sharply opened his eyes and inhaled deeply to regain his breath, beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he quickly turns on the lamp that stood beside him on the side table, Brian on the side of the room, was a light sleeper, "what the hell happened, Damien" he asked as he turned on his lamp, "it's nothing, just a nightmare" Damien responded, still breathing heavily, "better go back to sleep, tomorrow is going to be a long day" Brian said before going back to bed, "fine!" Damien said before turning off his lamp,
This dream was quite different from all his other dreams, this one seemed real, it was ominous and eerie, dark shadows seemed to chase him around but to just one spot that same shabby library, Damien thought for a while recollecting his dreams, he stood up from his bed and sneaked outside, walking slowly and softly till he got to the library again. Pushing the glass door, he never expected it to be open at that time, he entered slowly and shut the door behind him, the library was really dark and creepy, shivers went down his spine, sweat accumulated at his forehead, every dark corner looked like someone was there watching him, dipping his hand into his pocket he brought out a small portable white torchlight, he turned it on, scanning every corner to make sure he was alone, he proceed to the tall shelves in the library, scanning the shelves for that book, time passed by and to no avail did he find the book, just then his eyes met a slightly opened door that was illuminated with candles on the floor, he opened the door and walked inside slowly, his eyes set on all the arranged candles that stayed and burned in a straight line, he walked cautiously in the middle to avoid blowing out the candle, but his mind was otherwise, "who the hell will keep candles on by this time of the night", he kept on walking gradually, suddenly he saw the big book, it laid flat on the floor at the end of the candle line, picking it up, he glanced at it for a seconds before clenching it to his body tightly, as he walked out of the library silently, still the library was dark and void, suddenly a single candle just lighted up in the dark as it only revealed the lower part of the person face, someone was watching Damien all this while in the dark, a sinister smile appeared on the person face just before a thin air was blown from the mouth and the candle went off instantly.
"Damien, where the hell did you go?" Brian said, Immediately, Damien opened the door to their room, "Just a bit of fresh air, I couldn't sleep." Damien said as he went straight to his bed, "I can read minds, Damien, I know where you went to!" Brian said with a cold voice as he stared intensely at Damien, "Well, I just went back to the library for the book, and I found it." Damien added, "You found that same book?" Brian was a bit confused. "Yeah, it's here," Damien said, "let's take a look then."
They placed the book on a table with the lamp above it, they opened the book, at the cover of the book was a waxed emblem on it and "The Blood Prophecy", was the first thing they set their eyes on, Damien read it out, "That's a weird name for a book", "Yeah, what does it contain, let's see" he said while dragging his last word, flipping through the pages it dawns on them, as it was all blank, "like seriously?" Damien exclaimed, after going through all the pages, "This is so messed up." Brian cursed, "Something is wrong, then." Damien added, staring at the book. "Well, as for me, first thing at dawn you return the book to the damn library, I ain't in for any shit" Brian warned him, "yeah sure I'll do that tomorrow", "Better, sleep well," Brian said before returning to bed, Damien still stared at the book hoping for words to at least appear, he gave up and left the book under the lamp and went off to bed. Just then, a weird form of wind began to flow into the room, it seemed like it was a ghost rushing towards the book, the wind was a bit strong as it flapped the book pages, Damien opened his eyes slightly as the pages kept on flipping and flapping, back and forth, and just then it stopped, the book stayed still but opened on a particular page, Damien stood up from his bed, his instincts screamed danger and warning, but his curiosity was otherwise and piqued, it seems like Brian wasn't awake anymore, he knew something was wrong, he walked slowly towards the book, there was nothing but a folded paper, he opened it up and read it in his mind, the handwriting was in italics but he understood it well,
"The Blood Prophecy isn't just a book, it's alive, it's mischievous. A world where magic is endless, where good and evil fight to claim it. A book written by your ancestors. But the book chooses its owner, not the other way around. It whispers, it consumes. Guard it well… because once it has you, it won't let you go".
Just as he read those words, he suddenly felt a cold and chilly air in the atmosphere surrounding him, his eyes became dizzy, and his head went spinning as he suddenly fell to the floor just then it all went blank but the words reeled in his mind.
