Within a dark room with nothing but piled bags and the little light peeping through the cracks from the window, Kelly folded her knees up to her chin and buried her head between her legs. Her tears never stopped flowing.
She had no idea what was happening. Hours had passed, but still no news. It was clear Kael had the worst of ideas in his head, but never had she expected him to kill her father.
A little rustle from outside, and Kelly sprang to her feet.
"Is someone there?" she asked, leaning on the door, but silence.
"Please... help me," she begged.
"Luna," a voice called from outside, and Kelly recognized it instantly. It was Lia.
"Lia... Lia!" Kelly called, tears streaming down her face as she leaned on the door.
"You... how are you here? Didn't you leave for Blackthorn with Brod?"
Lia sighed heavily.
"We did, but the death of the Alpha brought us back." Lia leaned on the door.
