Chapter 22 - Chapter 21: Rapid Growth

"Alright, let's put everything else aside for now, Bell-kun. Let's update your stats."

Having the main god assist in updating one's status is also an extremely important process.

The status update is important. This allows the adventurers to see how much stronger it has become.

Bell took off his clothes and turned his back to her.

Hestia gently pricked her finger with a needle and used the blood to draw a vertical line on Bell's back.

The symbol of the Hestia Familia on his back began to glow, clearly displaying Bell's personal status parameters.

...

"He grew this much in just one day!?"

Even though Hestia knew that Bell possessed the rare skill "Personal Training," which made him grow stronger quickly, she was still super surprised. She never imagined he could get this strong in just one day.

In Orario, even the fastest adventurers took over a year to reach Level 2. That included not just accumulating excelia but also training their attributes over time.

However, Bell had managed to grow from I0 to his current stats in just one day.

In merely a single day, Bell had achieved what would normally take others half a year or even several years to accomplish.

At that moment, Hestia once again realized just how extraordinary the rare skill "of Personal Training" truly was.

Hestia looked down and stared at the new part that showed up after Bell's stats were updated with Luck, and next to it were EX.

It's important to note that "Luck" attributes are almost on the same level as "Personal Training" skills among the rarest of the rare, but Bell had both.

Seeing this, Hestia started feeling slightly confused about how this was possible.

During the time when she was staying at Hephaistos' place, she had never heard of any adventurer in Orario possessing such rare skills.

'Did I save the world in a past life or something? How did I get someone like Bell-kun in my Familia?'

Hestia was starting to wonder if she had done something really good in the past to deserve this.

'Since things have already reached this point, I absolutely cannot let Bell-kun be taken by another god.'

It's not that rare to steal someone else's other family member, and lots of gods would do it if they had the chance.

However, as long as Hestia made sure that Bell's status remained hidden from the other gods, the problem wouldn't be too serious.

After completing the status update, Hestia pressed Bell's sad light back into the tattoo.

Normally, she would write down the updated status for Bell to see, but given the situation, she didn't want to leave a record like that, which could be dangerous.

So, Hestia decided against writing it down and instead chose to tell him instead.

"Bell-kun, your stats have been updated."

"Mhm."

Upon hearing that the update was complete, Bell put his clothes back on.

When he turned around, he didn't see the usual paper with his stats on it. He immediately understood the reason.

It seemed that his growth in just one day had been too fast, and some of the data couldn't be written, or it would cause a problem.

Hestia took a deep breath to calm down.

After seeing Bell's growth in a single day, she was truly shocked. She also needed some time to calm down.

"Mhm, Bell-kun, your growth today has far exceeded my expectations. All your stats have improved dramatically, with even the lowest attributes almost at 300 and your highest one already over 400. It would probably take a year or two of hard work for most adventurers to achieve this."

"If you continue to grow at this rate, you might reach the limit of Level 1 within a month. However, you'll need to face a lot of enemies to break through this limit, and without gaining high-level excelia, you won't be able to raise your level."

A high-level excelia is gained by defeating monsters stronger than himself.

However, the upper floors don't have stronger monsters, and he has to go deeper to the middle floor, or he won't be able to accumulate the high-level excelia to level up.

"Bell-kun, don't worry about such complicated stuff for now. What you need to do is focus on raising your attributes. Once you reach your limit, we'll talk about the next step. If you need to fight stronger monsters, we'll see if I can help with that when the time comes."

"Hestia-sama, there's no need to think about such matters right now. I don't think the situation is serious enough yet. Even though leveling up is certainly important, I don't want to take the obvious path to do it, but rather without anyone noticing. Even if I do want to level up, I think it's best if I rely on my own strength to do so."

From the very beginning, Bell had already decided not to let others know, even if he were to level up.

A person's level can be falsely reported, but falsely reporting doesn't mean raising the level but lowering it.

Then there was the matter of personal connections, but personal favors are often the hardest debts to repay.

Bell believed it wasn't worth it to owe such a favor. Moreover, it would interfere with his goal of keeping a low profile, making it even harder to accept.

"But Bell-kun, it's very dangerous for someone by yourself to go up against stronger monsters alone. If you had someone from Loki's familia nearby, at least it would be a lot safer."

"Sure, it would be safer, but everything that shouldn't be exposed would be completely revealed. And next time, you'd have to repay that favor, or you won't be able to hold your head up in front of Loki-sama."

"Ugh…"

Hestia could already imagine the humiliating scene of being unable to lift her head up. Honestly, she didn't want to ask that annoying Loki for help at all.

'I, the great and magnificent Hestia, bowing my head to that flat-chested woman? Unbelievable.'

She was only willing to do it for Bell's safety.

However, what Bell said wasn't wrong. If they went to Loki, Bell's situation would be completely exposed.

Seeing that Hestia had calmed down, Bell continued with what he had said earlier.

"Hestia-sama, I'm still in the process of growing stronger. It's a bit too early to think about breaking my limits. Also, today while I was in the dungeon, I discovered something besides the monsters having intelligence."

"There's more?"

"Yeah. Actually, when I went into the dungeon today, I don't know why, but I had really good luck. Most of the monsters on the first floor were goblins, and I was mainly there just to get used to the dungeon's atmosphere. Then, while I was killing goblins, I noticed that besides dropping magic stones, they were also dropping goblin dagger."

Hestia instantly understood from Bell's words. She had just updated Bell's stats and discovered he had gained a new attribute: luck.

That explained it, and Hestia wasn't too surprised anymore. Since the skill had already manifested, it wasn't surprising that goblins dropped a few weapons.

"The goblin's dagger, if I remember correctly, are weapons that rarely drop. But if they really did drop, then Bell-kun won't need to change weapons for quite a while. The dagger is a very good weapon for beginner adventurers, and you wouldn't need to change weapons, at least until you reach the middle floors."

He naturally understood that this was a very good thing. For beginner adventurers, the biggest expenses were always on weapons and potions, which are necessary for progressing further.

Of course, what he was about to say wasn't just about a few swords.

Bell realized that she hadn't fully realized the situation and made a point to emphasize it.

"Hestia-sama, you need to pay attention. The goblin daggers I mentioned aren't just a few drops."

Hestia paused for a moment and said, "Bell-kun, how many did you say dropped?"

"284."

"…"

Hestia fell completely silent, and instinctively covering her face with her hand, she began to wonder if she had misheard something.

After taking a deep breath, she repeated the number she had just heard and turned to Bell to confirm.

"Bell, did you just say... 284 daggers?"

Bell nodded slightly.

After confirming she hadn't misheard, Hestia couldn't hold it in anymore and let out a sharp, "Eh!?"

After the shock, Hestia slowly started to calm down.

"That many? And they were all goblin daggers? Bell-kun, what exactly did you do in the dungeon today?"

The number of 284 goblin short swords was just too shocking. Hestia couldn't help but be really curious about just what Bell had done in the dungeon that day to end up with such an absurd amount of goblin weapon drops.

In fact, Bell himself didn't know exactly what he had done. He didn't go into the dungeon with any plans. He just wanted to get used to the atmosphere of the dungeon, to get ready for when he'd enter the second or even third floor.

He only fought goblins because they appeared in front of him, and he figured it would be a good chance to practice his combat abilities.

"Hestia-sama, I really didn't do anything special. I just wanted to kill a few goblins to get used to the dungeon's atmosphere, gather some magic stones, and earn a little money. Then, without realizing it, I ended up killing a lot of goblins and collecting a lot of daggers."

Hestia rested her chin on her hand.

Even though she was also a relatively new goddess in Orario, she knew a lot about the dungeon.

The 284 goblin daggers meant he had to have fought at least 284 goblins. That number was already pretty big, but how could there be so many goblins on the first floor?

The number of drops was one problem, and the number of goblins was another problem. However, Hestia quickly pushed those concerns aside for the time being.

No matter what, Bell had safely returned.

"Well, let's not dwell on it, Bell-kun. Regardless, getting more drops is always a good thing."
