Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: The Blood-Red Dark Web

The rain in Jiangcheng was drizzling. Chen Mo stared at the stack of missing children's files on his desk, his brows knitted into a knot. In the past three months, seven children in the city have mysteriously gone missing, all aged between 8 and 12. Before their disappearance, there were no abnormalities. Surveillance footage shows that they seem to have vanished without a trace. Even more strangely, the parents of the missing children have all received calls posing as schools, asking them to fill in detailed family information and their children's blood types.

"Captain Chen, there's a new lead again!" Assistant Xiao Wang rushed into the office and threw a package on the desk. "It was sent anonymously. It's a video." Chen Mo put on his gloves, opened the package, inserted the USB flash drive into the computer. The moment the screen lit up, his pupils contracted violently. In the picture, in the dark and damp basement, the child wearing shackles is curled up in the corner. The number "JQ-2023-07" on the wall exactly matches the date of disappearance of the seventh missing child. The camera suddenly shook violently. After a scream, the screen went black.

Chen Mo immediately got in touch with Zhao Jianfeng, and the two of them drove to the abandoned warehouse shown in the video. The heavy rain was washing over the muddy road, and the police car was moving forward amid the jolts. The iron door of the warehouse was rusty and made a shrill creaking sound when pushed open. The stench of putrid smell hit me in the face. Fragments of children's clothes were scattered on the ground, and there were still bloodstains from dragging in the corner. In a hidden compartment, Chen Mo discovered an encrypted notebook, which was densely filled with information such as blood type, height and weight. After each line of data, the words "To be matched" and "completed" were marked.

This is the list of human organ transactions. Zhao Jianfeng's face turned deathly pale. "Those children..." Before the words had even finished, the sound of an engine suddenly came from outside the warehouse. Chen Mo turned off his flashlight and saw through the crack of the door several black business cars parked in the rain. People getting out of the cars were wearing black masks and moving refrigerated boxes. Dark red liquid was seeping from the gaps of the boxes.

The two held their breath and waited. After the man in black left, they quietly followed him to a pier. The quay crane lifted the refrigerated containers onto the cargo ship, with the words "Myanma-Thailand Trade" printed on the hull. Chen Mo took pictures of the evidence with his mobile phone. Just as he was about to evacuate, the sound of a gun bolt being pulled came from behind him. "Officer Chen, long time no see." The familiar voice made Chen Mo shiver all over - it was Su Qing, the confidant of Xu Mingyuan who had been caught in the "Deep Sea Project". She was holding a gun, with more than ten armed thugs standing behind her.

"Su Qing, aren't you in prison?" Chen Mo clenched his fist. Su Qing sneered, "Prison?" It's just our deception. Officer Chen, do you think the case of the missing child is just by chance? Let me tell you, behind this is a vast network covering the entire country. There are our people in schools, hospitals and even the government system. The information of those children will eventually reach the hands of the big shots who need the "parts".

Zhao Jianfeng shouted angrily, "Are you still human?" Su Qing, however, remained unmoved. She motioned for her men to surround her and said, "Hand over the notebook. I can give you a good look." At the critical moment, sirens suddenly blared at the pier, and the special police force of the provincial public security department descended like a divine soldier. Su Qing's expression changed suddenly and she fled in a panic with her men. Chen Mo chased in the chaos, only to see Su Qing jump onto the speedboat and disappear into the rain curtain.

Back at the police station, Chen Mo began to conduct an in-depth investigation. He found that all the schools of the missing children used the same APP called "Home-School Communication" to collect information, and the development company of this APP was registered in Myanmar. What is even more terrifying is that when tracking the flow of funds, huge sums of money ended up flowing into an organization called "Ankang Charity Foundation", and the honorary chairman of this foundation is a senior leader in the education system of Jiangcheng City.

Chen Mo decided to start with the school. He disguised himself as a parent and attended the parents' meeting of a key primary school. At the meeting, the teacher repeatedly emphasized the importance of filling in the "Home-School Communication" information and particularly reminded parents to accurately fill in their children's blood types. Chen Mo noticed that there was a strange man at the back of the classroom who had been taking pictures of the parents' information form with his mobile phone, his eyes avoiding.

After the meeting, Chen Mo followed the man to a remote Internet cafe. The man logged into an encrypted website and uploaded the information he had just taken. Taking advantage of his inattention, Chen Mo drugged him unconscious and turned on the computer. The website interface sent shivers down his spine: It was a huge database of organ and blood type information, with each child's information clearly priced. In the remarks column, words like "Urgent need of heart" and "Matching liver" were written.

Just as Chen Mo was about to collect evidence, the Internet cafe suddenly lost power. In the darkness, someone attacked from behind. Chen Mo felt a sharp pain, his vision went black and he lost consciousness. When he woke up, he found himself trapped in an iron cage, surrounded by rows of refrigerated cabinets containing organs, and the air was filled with the smell of formalin. Not far away on the operating table, there lay a pale-faced child and the doctor was about to make an operation...
