She slowly peeked at me through the books and sighed.
"You know, I don't get why you're so worried. Kendal is a great kid. You just happen to be too mature. Or you have your head in the gutter." Emma said and walked to a table.
"I'll take that as you resigning from helping me then. I guess I should've done it myself from the start."
"Really? You, Atticus Von Radars? Do it yourself. You have ways of making me laugh you know. You can barely leave your family grounds without anyone holding your hand." Emma mocked.
This debate was pointless. As I see it, she already made up her mind. Even if she didn't, she wouldn't care much even while helping me. Okay then, I'll do it myself.
"That aside then. Can you give me some books. I'm done with the ones I took last time. They're in your room." I said changing the topic.
"Which ones do you want now?" Emma inquired.
The books around her closed shut one after the other. As if following her thoughts, they each returned to the bookshelves.
"I managed to boost my energy generation. Meaning my reserves have vastly improved. But it's useless to have large pool of energy if I can't utilise it."
"So if I'm right? You want my help to bypass the bracelet?" Emma's voice was accusing.
"Not really. I just want you to give me a book that will teach me how to do so. Of course, you have the option to refuse. Don't worry though, I won't hold it against you." I sat back comfortably.
"Potato potahto. Whether I give you a book or I teach you, the outcome is the same. And you know why your father won't remove it. So you want me to be in trouble... with you at that." She said, again with that accusing look and tone.
"So you heard I wanted it removed? I guess you won't help me then? I asked a lot of you since I awakened. I guess you're getting annoyed." I didn't try to mask my thoughts this time.
Since that day when I found out about the bracelet, our relationship became kind of strained. I didn't hold a grudge. But I just couldn't be as close with her as I was before then.
Emma looked thoughtful and took out a book from her drawer. She placed it firmly on the table and put her hand on it.
"That drawer of yours sure has everything." I reached for the book which Emma wouldn't let go.
"What now? Will you be tucking me in with it? Don't tell me it's a bedtime storybook?" I joked to lighten the serious tension. Emma didn't budge but looked even more serious.
"Big brother, how about this one? It's about dragons and Knights?" Kendal spoke up, breaking the slight tension.
"That's a very nice choice. I'll be sure to read it for you tonight. Wait for me outside, I'll be out now now." I gestured for her and Kendal looked around before leaving. I liked how she never questioned my decisions or orders.
"I'm giving this to you. But you have to promise me you won't cause me trouble. If anything goes wrong, you might destroy the bracelet. And I'm sure you know I don't want trouble." Emma warned.
"Thank you for the warning master. But I already have a grasp of my energy. I trained to control it during the past month you know. How else do you think I knew it was great?" I responded to her confidently.
Honestly, I wasn't lying. I was finally able to control my energy. Unlike when I couldn't do a thing after wearing this bracelet. What I needed now was how to project it and or utilise it. Even if it was just a little, I wouldn't mind having an ace up my sleeve the next time I had a duel with my father.
Emma hesitantly let go of the book which I then took and left the library.
When I got home, I did the usual. Eat, bath, read Kendal a chapter or two of a book of her choice. Then she'd fall asleep. I'd continued to read my books and practice.
"Okay then. Let's see if this works." I followed the steps for some kind of guide in the book i got earlier.
First, a magic circle drawn using a mixture of blood and salt. Well, that's simple, I'll add my blood and salt to the water. Then make a thick solution that can be used to write.
Then, meditate in the centre of the circle while forcing my energy to the surface of my body. Apparently, my blood will attract it out of my body.
My skin or soul, which should be holding it in should weaken even if its just a little.
To achieve this, I will need to overload my body, the bracelet and reserves by forcing my core to produce more power. A simple feat for someone who has control over his power.
I continued following the steps deep into the night. I kept failing few of the times. Even skipping some steps. As a result, I had to redo the entire thing a number of times.
It was almost about early in the morning. A few hour before dawn when I finally succeeded. I managed to gather a ball of energy in my hands.
It was unexpectedly strong. I guess my energy had been deepened. Something like this can be used effectively for destruction.
I smiled looking at the ball. Just then, it absorbed more power from me and grew stronger.
I couldn't control the power so I released it. The ball was fired out the window and landed a little distance from the house. It exploded with a explosion followed by a huge shockwave.
All the windows on that side of the house were blown away.
"Oh dear, what have I done now?" Yeah, that was my response. What else was I to say?
